That is an excellent question, for which I have no answer.
I had Webby go pull/delete a bunch of posters posts just to see who would get upset.
The ones that do, care about post counts. The ones that don't, are on my side and believe that we need to do away with tracking them....... :P ;)
When Prophet got the 1,000,000th post we realized that he had been loading up the data base with nonsensical posts much like some of the other major posters on PPO who were trying to hit the number, (even though some of them claim that post count doesn't matter to them ;) ) When the site was updated those blank pages were simply deleted in order to reflect true posts. :P
This means of course that we all have another opportunity to make a meaningful 1,000,000th post.
Oh ok, but did prophet lose a ton of posts? I thought he had over 20k, maybe I was wrong.
There was a bunch of bad ones, and the errant records helped slow down some of the site. Part of housekeeping.
Plus I am sure at some point I just added 10,000 to Prophets number after he paid me a handsome bribe.

Can you imagine how much fun I was going to have with the ones that believed my little yarn?
