    Washington DC for the Summer

    Hi.

I never make topics so I thought it was time.

Thanks to being smart and successful, I was accepted into an internship program through my school to work in Washington DC over the summer. I leave on Sunday and am there until August.
I thought I should make this topic to tell you that I might not be posting as many wonderful photos in the many lovely topics we have or on the site as much as I am now. I should still hopefully be able to check in once a week if not once a day. Not entirely sure what my schedule will be looking like.

I'll be staying in Maryland which is about 20minutes north of the White House by Metro.

While in Washington, besides the obvious tourism things, what do I need to see and experience? Any other tips you guys have for a nice Canadian coming to America for the first time on his own?

    what up GG...

I also live in DC and I will tell you there are many many things to do here... some things i'd suggest...

    1. go check out the georgetown waterfront on a friday/saturday/sunday on a nice day.. it's awesome...
    2. for a weekend or day trip check out the bay harbor in annapolis downtown.. some nice shops and a relaxed chill atmosphere during the day... some bars and such at night..
    3. Baltimore harbor.
    4. Dewey Beach.. a bunch of college kids crowd for the weekend.. it can get pretty crazy down there if yu know what i mean..
    5. lots of places to eat in DC as well as a great night life..
    6. you can hit up New York and philly.. they have a 20 dollar shuttle that goes to and from in China town up to NY chinatown.. i think it's called the chinatown bus.
    7. check out a Nats or Orioles baseball game.. lots of fun.
    8. lots of bike riding trails around the capital to check out..

send me a pm if you need a wingman or for more info...

    cheers welcome to DC.

Re: Washington DC for the Summer

I live in D.C. as well. One of the greatest cities on Earth really.

    1. I would definitely say to make sure to get to Baltimore for a day just to check out the Inner Harbor and see if you can spring $30 for the National Aquarium... it is a short drive and a fun place to spend a day (not much more really).

    2. Go above and beyond to make sure you make a trip to Old Town in Alexandria, Va. It is less than 20 minutes from downtown D.C. and is the most gorgeous place outside of the city. Lots of unique shops there as well as some great restaurants ... including my personal favorites Bugsy's (best pizza in the area) and The Fish Market.

    3. Try to get over to the fairly new National Harbor on the D.C. (I believe, might be Maryland) side of the Potomac River. Lots of goings on over there. If you make a day of it, you can ferry across to Old Town, Alexandria.

    4. Do NOT take it for granted you will see all the downtown attractions. MAKE SURE you go to the Natural History Museum, the American History Museum, the National Portrait Gallery at the National Art Museum, the Holocaust Museum, Air and Space Museum and the National Archives. All are absolutely phenomenal and some of the best in the country.

    5. And if you have more time to kill, the National Zoo is always a great stop. Make sure to get there NO LATER than 11:00 a.m. and you will be able to see everything while all the animals are out and about.

I think a good gift for the President would be a chocolate revolver. And since he is so busy, you'd probably have to run up to him real quick and give it to him.

Well i live in Washington DC so maybe i can show you around one day.

    Tips:

    Avoid people with dreaded hair

ALL you will hear is Go-Go, so get use to it.

Metro is a fun thing to take some times. But if you leave something it is as good as gone.

Georgetown is the best place to shop, if ur in georgetown hit me up, and ill show u around.

thats all i can think of

    1.
Go see an outdoor concert or two at Wolftrap (northern VA suburbs)
    2.
    Spy museum
    3.
    Holocaust museum
    4.
Obvious tourism things such as Air & Space, National Archives and American Museum of Natural History
    5.
Go to the Udvar-Hazy wing of the Air & Space (out by Dulles Airport).
In many ways it is better than the Air & Space museum on the Mall

    =Z=

Thanks to Josdin for the awesome sig!
