Is Virtual Life Better Than Reality?

Is Virtual Life Better Than Reality?

...As hard as this may be to believe, there is real money changing hands among the players in these games, Bowen reports. An estimated $1 billion worldwide is spent by users buying and selling virtual goods, such as furniture for virtual houses and clothing for their avatars. But it's paid for with real-world credit cards — at Second Life alone, $6 million a month...

"But it doesn't stop there. Second Life itself is being sued in the real world over virtual land deals that went bad. And in China, a man was sentenced to life in prison for murdering a friend who sold the prized sword he'd loaned him — a virtual weapon that existed only in cyberspace."

now im sorry, but to me, thats just hilarious
People who see life as anything more than pure entertainment are missing the point.

Re: Is Virtual Life Better Than Reality?

In their defense, MMO (Massively Multiplayer Online) games are fun. And to be honest, incredibly clever. One of the biggest complaints about computer games was that they were, after all was said and done, just algorithms. And algorithms can be beaten because there is always some type of expected behavior that could be exploited (there is no true randomness in a computer). With MMO games, such as World of Warcraft, the game designers didn't have to worry about programming the AI. Real live people would supply the input for each of the characters. That left them free to work on the game play and network instead. Real people are unpredictable, therefore always more difficult than playing against a computer.

yup, i played Final Fantasy XI with a friend, we shared an account, neither of us have used it in a while so we're going to sell all our items in-game then sell the online money to a website for real money, then put the account its self on auction

    should make around 1200$
