Kinda makes some sense...although we would pay more for Edwards or Williams than if they dropped to our #7 anyway. Takes all of the risk out of getting what we want though.
Interesting dilemna!!!
Here is the blurb:

VIKES TRYING TO MOVE UP?
Word is that the Minnesota Vikings are trying to make a move into the top end of the draft in order to get their hooks into Michigan receiver Braylon Edwards or USC receiver Mike Williams.
The Vikes, we hear, are offering their two first-round picks -- No. 7 and No. 18 overall -- and they hope to get into the 1, 2, or 3 slot.
The 49ers might be the most interested in making the move, because it would allow them to draft Miami cornerback Antrel Rolle with the seventh pick (if the Titans don't at No. 6), and the Niners would then be able to address another of their various needs eleven spots later.
Based on the round one contract numbers from the past couple of seasons, it looks like it'd actually be cheaper for the Vikings to pay the No. 1 pick than to pay 7 and 18 together. Also, since the Vikes have beefed up their defense through trades and free agency, they don't have a glaring need at any position that would justify a top-20 pick.
The biggest need, obviously, is at receiver, with the Vikings trading Randy Moss and, as a consequence, seeing their season ticket renewals drop to 90 percent. And the problem is that, at No. 7, there's no guarantee that either Edwards or Williams will be on the board after the first six picks.
is this just another rumor or could it actually happen?
I hope not. We'll get way better mileage out of two first round picks. I won't be greatly disappointed if we miss out on both Edwards and Williams by the time #7 rolls around because it very much seems like a reality that we will. One of the other WR's at #18 (Clayton) would be fine with me. Two picks in the 1st round is way better than one. If the intention is to trade up to draft someone to fill Moss's shoes, I'm sorry to say it's not gonna happen. Pick or trade down.
Anything to get mike williams i guess. We need him.
Then we aren't getting the Nuge cuz there's no way we'd use a second round pick after only getting a wr in the first round. We need other stuff first
is mike williams really this good?
dont know much about him..
DONT LIKE THAT IDEA AT ALL. KEEP THE 7TH AND THE 18TH. WE NEED THAT KICKER ALSO. NUGGET OR SOMETHING LIKE THAT

Stay put at 7 and 18 and take best player available if our guys arent there.
I think its stupid to put all your eggs in one basket and move up like that, especially to get a WR. I could understand if we wanted the best back in the draft (Ronnie Brown) or a Quarterback - but not a WR.
Best bet is to stay put and actually get a benefit out of the extra pick we got from trading the best WR in football.
