Vikeman's house following Thursdays ice storm
Fall-out from Thurs.-Fri. Dec. 11-12 ice storm.
Wifey and I were very fortunate.
Never slept.
Heard nothing but thunderous tree cracking and falling all night.
Our power was restored the next morn.
Many towns around us won't have power restored until Fri. the 19th.
The following morning ventured out to get milk and bread.
People from many surrounding towns came to get gas.
Flashbacks to 1974 gas crisis.
Double lines of cars at every station.
1 to 1-1/2 hr. wait.
The important thing is--have DirectTV.
Will see Vikes-Cards game today!!!!
Go Vikes!!!!!!!!!

Re: Vikeman's house following Thursdays ice storm
Wow thats crazy ice there Vikeman !
I know we where lucky here in New Britain,CT.,
it just was to the North of us.
Yesterday when I was driving back from Boston,MA.,
I was on the Mass Pike, heading back to Hartford,CT.
and noticed a frigin CONVOY of Electrical Power Repair Trucks.
Had to be at least 40 trucks, all headed back to the Boston area.
I would guess they where coming from the hills of Pittsfield County Mass, or Litchfield County of CT.
Every now and then, on the way up to Boston, we would notice a car still covered with ice.
I can't believe some people don't even take the time to clean off their roofs.
Nice to read that your safe and sound at least.
I didn't here any numbers on deaths or seriously hurt people due to the storm, but I'm sure there had to be some.
Consider
yourself one of the lucky ones.
Ned in CT.
PS:
You don't mention where your house is?.....Just wondering what area your in where the storm hit.
I LOVE THE SMELL OF VICTORY IN THE MORNING AIR.

probably not, but if the ice storm was that bad, gas tankers might not be able to make it into town to refill gas stations, meaning they could run out."Vikeman" wrote:
