I will take a little less intelligence and still be a "meat" eater.
What I lack in intelligence I can make up for elsewhere.

eating meat is an instinct its natural.....primal even
now choosing not to eat meat goes against our priamal urges to tear into steak with our canines and bicuspids.
to quote Mr. Dennis Leary " gimma a bowl or red raw meat right now, no forget that give me the live cow. I will carve off what I want and ride the rest home."
    Yeah call me carnivore

That has to be the STUPIDEST analysis that I have ever seen...as far as I am concerned, IQ is determined GENETICALLY AT BIRTH...while the decision to become a vegetarian is not GENETIC in nature and is usually determined by either the parents' eating habits or triggered by some ethical or health reason later in someone's life.

    Re: Vegetarians are more intelligent

    Whew.

    You know what's really funny?
I've heard this quite often about vegetarians.

Anthropology is ALL OVER this topic, non stop.
Meat eating had everything to do with our human evolution.
Once again, everything is a 'why' when discussing science, especially on behavior.

I'll skip ALL the really boring technicals (that I myself love) and get right to the simplistics of it:

The human brain is by far the largest in the animal kindgom.
    No one is denying it.
What is the brain's primary component?
    Protein.
In the VAST fossil records of humans, brain sizes became larger in proportion to the amount of meat eaten in a society.
Also, if you look cross-culturally at other more indiginous tribes, there is a perfect proportion to the amount of meat in their diet on average and the level of technology/intelligence in their society.

Funny enough, human 'altruism' or the closest thing you'll find to real sharing and compassion is purely the result of meat eating.
    Why?
Because hunting is really DAMN difficult.
Odds are you alone will not catch anything every single day.
However, with friends and mulitple groups, the odds greatly increase.
(Not my ideas, VERY well documented science which can be found in a terrfic book entitled "The Hunting Apes" by Craig Stanford)

Funny enough - if you want to learn a little more about human behavior (this is all entry level stuff).
What skills would be helpful to hunting in the wild?
The abilities to throw a projectile for distance, power, and accuracy, to be able to run with speed and endurance.
EVERY sport revolves around distance, power, and accuracy with its projectile - most involve physical speed as well.
    Baseball, football, hockey, even basketball.
Who do we respect in a society?
Those with the best ablilites in our sports.

I'm glad no one here believes this B.S. about more intelligence in vegetarians.
They usually lack any good social skills as well, and are more prone to mental breakdowns.
Meat eating is the reason we are humans, it really is.
