good! to take the name away would be absolutely rediculous

Everybody likes to have something to copmplain about.
If they are ever forced to change the name.
They should either not have a name at all or cancel sports programs all together.

Too bad that isn't going to help their cause in the WCHA where the Gophers are going to win the conference title again and win the national championship for the sixth time!

How can the use of SIOUX be offensive?

Now names like Indians, Braves and the like are a different story...but a proud name like SIOUX should be preserved...this argument is ALL about M-O-N-E-Y...the alums aren't giving enough of it to the native Sioux tribes to buy them off...like Florida State did with the Seminole tribes in Florida!

Yeah, I think it's a load of crap that any of these schools can't have whatever name they want! I'm so sick of all this sensitivity crap!

Sounds like a Gopher fan....I wish them well, except when they are playing the Fighting Sioux!!!!

You got it!!! We're playing a lot better to start this year than I thought. We are so young and lost a lot of talent and goal scorers last year so I thought we'd struggle. We'll see how we do this weekend against Wisconsin even though they are down a little. UND is going to give us a run for our money, but we are itching for that 6th title!!

The current Sioux logo was created by an Ojibwa lady.
I have friends who are Sioux and they like the name.
Some person from the stupid NAACP decided for native americans that Seminole, Sioux, and so on are offensive.
The Sioux were originally called the Flickertails.
That's not very intimidating.
There is nothing you can change UND's name that would be fitting.
Any sports name could be offensive.


The NAACP cound cinvince Ole and Lena that Minnesota Vikings are offensive to Norwegians.


Cinicinnati Bengals could be offensive to animal rights people because the bengal tiger is close to extingtion.
I even though it was stupid when the Washington Wizards changed there name.

There are no southern colleges nicknamed white trash, or hillbillies.
There are black colleges with name fighting well I'll stop there.

Fighting Sioux is a proud name.
It's not the Squaws or Lazy Dirt Bags. People need to stop complaining.
