Twin Cities man tries to help two women being beaten and loses life.

This is an article from the Red Star and Tribune.

    part of the Article.

The scene Earnell Luster, 53, came upon the night after Valentine's Day was chaotic.
Behind an apartment building in south Minneapolis, two women were on the ground, getting repeatedly hit and kicked by a "really, really drunk" 25-year-old man who was ignoring another woman's pleas to stop, police said.

Police don't think Luster knew the attacker, yet what he did next was no surprise to his family.

"Knock it off," Luster is believed to have told Mitchell L. Osterloh, 25. "Don't be hitting those women."

Luster's intervention bought time for someone to help the two women to their feet. But it left Luster the new target of Osterloh's wrath, court documents say.

Luster was knocked to the ground and kicked in the head at least 10 to 15 times.

You're right. He is a hero.

That kind of crap goes on far too much, and this guy was one of the few around here that had the balls to stand up against it.

I applaud his actions, and mourn his death.

    My question is this:

The alleys between apartment buildings in Mpls are small and cramped. Dozens of apartment windows overlook the alleyway.

Why in the hell was this dude the only one helping those poor girls?

Like you said Snobum to few around that have the balls to stand up and confront losers like this guy, so people hid in their apts or homes and pretend nothing is going on.

    Sad story.
The asshole that was beating up the women deserves to have his nuts cut off and jammed down his throat until he suffocates.
More people need to stand up to low-lifes like that guy.

Its sad, but unfortunately its not the first time, yet in this case it was worse.
Anyone else know the story of Kitty Genoviese?
If not go check it out.
At least in this one someone tried to help.
    Its still quite a tragedy.

I lived in that area from age 15 to 24 with 2 1/2 yrs. off for the army and Vietnam. I attended Central high back when it was open.(Prince was in junior high just down the street at Bryant. He had an afro back then!)
I still have family living down there.
I had a gun in my face on a few occasions but got lucky and and nobody pulled the trigger.
You've got to watch your ass and stay away from the gang areas.
I'm a successful profesional that lives out in the woods on 120 acres now.
But I didn't start out that way. True story.

God Bless Mr. Luster. Only Gods finest could give their lives that others may live.

    I beg to differ Sir.
Luster is a hero, and may he rest in peace.
Osterloh should die, but the "progressive" voting population of Minnesota believes the death penalty is too barbaric.

I agree that he should get the death penalty but we don't have it in Minnesota so he won't.

A poll conducted before the last election showed that the majority of Minnesotans favor the death penalty but the politicians don't.

Death penalty is such a cop out.

Let him rot in solitary if you want to make a point.
