Turkey thread...
Anybody have any special recipies or plans for turkey day...... I usually inject a turkey with my top secret marinade and fry. Have been doing so for a couple of years now. So tender and moist. Tried to smoke one ( could'nt get the paper around it
;D) dried it out pretty bad. Usually do some sweet potatoe casserole.
Then football and a nap. Need to work on my basement that I am refinishing myself, just finished electrical ( canned lights w/ dimmers..sweet, special small lights to highlight my autographed vikes jerseys) and have moved on to drywall. Home theater and pool table to come......pics later...

Smoking one and deep fyring one.
Inviting a bunch of foreign grad. students over to enjoy a traditional Thanksgiving dinner.
Will probably watch a few football games too.

Re: Turkey thread...
Just gonna order two traditional Turkey Dinners from Boston Market for the wife and I, stop off at Baker's Square for a French Silk pie, and bring the feast home and enjoy a quiet dinner at home, and of course the great American Thanksgiving Day tradition of some NFL FOOTBALL, with the wife.

deep fried turkey is the best, and the best part is the triptafan makes you really sleepy.

I usually either deep fry it in peanut oil or cook it on the Webber grill. Both ways are delicious & beat oven roasting.
I do not inject the turkey with artificial crap. I want to taste the turkey & not the injected stuff. Same goes with a good thick steak. I want to taste the bloody rare steak juices & the beef, not just A-1 sauce.

Re: Turkey thread...
I'm making a hand-crafted Turducken for the fourth straight year.
I don't buy that deep-fried is the best. I know this sounds strange, but it's true: deep-frying actually pulls fat OUT of the bird. Forget that! I want the fat (of course, in fairness, deep-frying also coats the bird in oil...but whatever)
At any rate, Turducken is the only way to go. If nothing else, the gravy from all three birds and the three different stuffings is nothing short of heavenly.

Just put two sticks of butter in the cavity, along with 1/8 cup of salt. Preheat the oven to 350. When the oven is warm, fill the bird up with popcorn, sew it up, and put it in the oven. When its jiggly butt blows off, it's done.

Re: Turkey thread...
I love Thanksgiving food, sweet potatoes are my favorite!!
Will be heading to my parents for a late lunch and then to Neum's family for a late dinner/dessert.
And of course watching some football.
This will be a well needed break for me I have tomorrow off as well.
It's been a stressful few weeks so it'll be nice to just relax and enjoy some good food and hopefully good football.
