Tony LaRussa JUPITER - Tony La Russa, the manager of the world champion St. Louis Cardinals baseball team, was arrested early Thursday by the Jupiter Police Department on a charge of driving under the influence.

La Russa, 62, was booked into the Palm Beach County Jail just after 4:00 a.m. He was released around 8:30 a.m. after posting $500 cash bond.

An employee at the Palm Beach County Jail told FOX 13 by phone that the Tampa native was found asleep behind the wheel of his SUV at a stop light, and was later arrested.

Police say La Russa gave two breath samples and had a blood alcohol level of 0.093 percent.
The legal limit in the state of Florida is 0.08 percent.

A police report indicates that some time around midnight, La Russa's SUV was sitting partially in an intersection, and didn't move during two green light cycles.
When police approached his car, they say they found the SUV in drive and La Russa's foot on the brake.

Officers claim they knocked on his window, and he initially didn't respond, but once he woke up he was cooperative.

Asleep at the wheel with the car in drive and his foot on the brake.

I mean he was stopped.
Driving Under the Influence, doesn't really apply here, right?

I like Tony La Russa and the Cardinals and this is not cool.
They already had troubles keeping their good pitchers and now there is going to be this kind of stuff...
