Re: Tim Duncan said what?
Doesn't sound much like Tim Duncan... Oh well.
Re: Tim Duncan said what?
that dress code IS retarded. Seems like trying to take away individual identity. The NBA sucks anyways, the most republican of all sports.
Re: Tim Duncan said what?
I think that a dress code is a good idea, I am a huge Hockey fan and every guy from Junior all the way up to the NHL wear a suit to games. These guys are getting paid like some of the highest paid executives in the world, they should dress apropriately. Same as football players, look at the track record of B-ball and F-ball players doing such stupid stuff off of the field, I do not mean if they wear suits they will be model citizens however I do believe it would install some form of self respect. If an athelete or any other person has no self respect they will not have respect for anyone else!!
Wear a suit!!
And Tim Duncan should probably choose his words a little better, as saying something like retarded in the media makes him look like an idiot!! This is not a race issue either, it is a respect issue.

Republican or not, it is still retarted.
I just don't want politics in a thread again even though I consider myself on the liberal side of the spectrum.
Re: Tim Duncan said what?
Yeah, that's pretty shocking that he would come out and say this stuff.
Re: Tim Duncan said what?
Not wearing formal clothes is not disrespectful to anyone. The dress code is a joke, do you really think you will see iverson coming to games in a suit???
Re: Tim Duncan said what?
the article didn't say much about the dresscode. i must have missed it can some one fill me in?
Re: Tim Duncan said what?
Iverson won't adhere to the dress code and he will just be fined for it every game. "What's 10 grand to..." him.
Re: Tim Duncan said what?
I think the dress code in the NBA is a blatant race issue, no matter what reasons they give because it blatantly targets black players. Having self respect has nothing to do with wearing a shirt and tie. While I dont mind doing away with do-rags and stuff like that. Telling them they cannot wear jewelry is a joke, and telling them they have to have their shirt tucked in blah blah blah, is a joke too. This is not a private school. You run a sport that feeds off a certain culture, and banning all signs of that to try and whiten everybody up does nothing but take icons for people from that culture, and from the same places that these players have come from, away from them and just make them like everyone else ...
