Re: Things to do in Minnesota...
Im happy for you mate! I love minneapolis!!
Places to eat:
Bfast: Als breakfast in dinkytown. Its a must!! (you also have the Golden Gophers shops closeby to fillup on your gophers stuff)
Pizza Luce: I like those pizzas
Famous Dave: Eating lunch there is a good meal. Dinner at the downtown branch is also good for some live jazzmusic some times.
Potbelly sandwhiches: Good alternative for subway and i love their milkshakes. Located in the downtown skyways mall.
Also make sure to go to eat street. (sorry i have no time to google up the exact locations)
Midtown exchange: Go there, taste around on teh food before you decide what to eat. Make a stop at the swedish place for some swedish chocolate balls. a delicacy!!
Coffee:
The best place and also with free wifi is caribou coffe
The ABSOLUTE best place with the cutest lass youll ever see behind a counter is espresso royale cafe. If you see a tall darkhaired lass, thats the woman who almost made me stay in minny
They have lovely goofy regulars and nice athmosphere. I love it for mor ethan the obvious reason
Museums:
There are plenty of museums. You shouldnt have any problems finding them. Lots of arts ofcourse.
Historic fort snelling
cathedral in St paul is very beatiful if you are into churches.
Also the technical museum in ST paul is worth a visit.
Vikingsreleated:
Make sure you check the appereances of the vikings
Also check KFAN.com and their broadcast schedule. They used to broadcast live from joe sensers in bloomington with a vikingplayer as guest.
Tailgating with PPO is a must!! I missed it first time at the metrodome and ill never do it again!
At the MOA they usually have some vikingsevents in the rotunda, check for schedules on vikings homepage.
Musicwise:
You will have multiple choices, every day depending on what you are into. Let me know and ill try to find some things for you. I know that some HUGE names in the DJ scene is haveing performances in november if you are into electronic trance and house music.
1st avenue is ofcourse teh most famous club with live music
There is always some happy hour around too there you can eat and drink cheap in the early hours after worktime, lookout for those deals.
get lost in the skymall!!! Its fun!walking around there.
get a US simcard for your cellphone. Peeple might have taken away the ability to even receive textmsg from abroad cellphones! Pick your posion, i have a AT&T card but anything will do.
Go to a gophersgame, and try to cheat yourself into the student section. Thats how it should be at the football games at the vikings. Lots of fun!!
Useful phonenumbers:
Bus company: 373 33 33 (call them and ask how and what bus you should take. Service is good!
Cab: I usually use Red & white taxi but i see they got really bad references. but the phonenr is (612) 871-1600
Have a nice stay in minny!!!

Appreciate the good response guys.
Some of my favourites to date are...
"Call an escort and get your rocks off, American Style"
"Dip your gonads in the Mississippi river"
"Go streaking at the Metrodome"
Genius..
;D
Keep up the good work

Re: Things to do in Minnesota...
Get dome in the dome.
Sacred tradition.
You'd be gettin your mind and your sick willy blown at the same time.
"There are 3 things that sell in America:
Violence, sex, and drugs.
The only way you are going to make this game more appealing to the public than it was before is if there are on field orgies at halftime and the domes become massive opium dens."

Re: Things to do in Minnesota...
This might not be for everyone, But I go on vacation every year to a lake 30 miles south of International Falls, Lake Kabetogama, Beautiful 22 miles long, hundreds of pine covered islands, Eagles nesting all over, and the sounds of Loons at night make it the most relaxing place on earth (To me that is) Drinking beer and grilling steaks just tops it off. You should visit some year and I guarantee you'll keep going back. Most people are there for the Walleye, They go to the far end where it connects to Namakan, then Rainy lake where it's deeper and colder, So if you don't fish (we don't) you have the lake to yourself, and thats only a slight exaggeration,
To sum up-Quiet, fresh air, Very few people, Eagles, Otters,
Loons calling, Campfires, beer, and steaks, Is there a more relaxing atmosphere than this?? I hate to use overused cliches, But this is Gods country.

Hi guys n gals.
As some of you know i will be making my first visit to Minnesota from the UK for the Chicago Bears game on November 29, which is something of a long time dream of mine.

Now, this is where you guys come in, i need to know what to do, where to go and what places to see etc..
I'm staying downtown Minneapolis and wont have a car.
So far i have been given the following info from a friend of a friend...
"A bar called “Old Chicago†is cool. “The
Fine Line†(http://www.finelinemusic.com/index.html) it’s on the same
street at Old Chicago.
“First Avenue†is kind of a crazy bar/club, but it’d made famous because
Prince owns it (he lives here).
A lot of famous bands have played there.
It’s kinda dirty, but it’s all apart of the atmosphere.
Lots of Mohawks
and piercings, but also “normal†people…. http://www.first-avenue.com/
Yummy pizza:

Depending on the weather:

http://www.mary.org/
Free!
http://www.artsmia.org/
Of course the Mall of America in Bloomington (where Compendium was).
They
can take the Light Rail, http://www.metrotransit.org/planyourtrip/plan.asp "
I have my Vikes tickets sorted as well as the T-wolves tickets and i hope to get to see the Wild too.
Any sports bars that show [s]football[/s] English soccer would be helpful
Any and all suggestions are welcome to help me enjoy your great city.
;D
PS..
i make no apologies for shamelessly bumping this thread every now and then!
I know I already sent you a personal message on this, I'll be there the 28th to the 30th, and want to have a drink or 7 with some of these members, maybe dinner, I'll be staying with some friends in Stillwater and will come pick you up if you want and we can hook up with someone here, I'll message you sooner to the game, But anyone else have some time those nights to have some beer, let me know.Even if the Vikings lose, I can still find happiness in Bears, and Packer losses.

I will check out your lake on the way to where I go...Lake of the Woods.
Specifically, the Northwest Angle and Flag Island.
Same concept, bigger water, more remote.
Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent
