Taking Pictures Of Fireworks
I'm not sure why, but every time I'm around fireworks I have the uncontrollable urge to take a picture of them, as if this might be the last time I ever see something colorfully blowing up in the sky.
Well, fireworks time is tonight, and the cameras will be pointed skyward once again. So how to you get a shot of something that looks like a work of art.
So here's some tips if you're planning to photograph some airborne festivities,
* Use a tripod and a remote shutter release, if you can.
* Carefully frame the shot so that the horizon is straight and you don't get a bunch of heads in the picture.
* Set aperture between f/8 and f/16 and use ISO 100.
* Keep the shutter open for a couple of seconds, starting before the explosion. (Manual mode is your friend.)
* Turn off the flash.
* Experiment and have fun!Kentucky Vikes Fan

Re: Taking Pictures Of Fireworks
Thanks Cojo.
I have been getting into photography pretty heavy over the last year.
I am always taking hundreds of photos from my boys sporting events and then toying with the photos.
I have a nice Olympus E-500 with 2 lenses.
Thank god for digital cameras!

I've taken lots of pictures of fireworks using these tips but I thought it would be good to post 'em here. I got to admit I never thought of it until I saw a piece on Yahoo and just cut and pasted the main points here. Wish I could take credit for it!Wow you really know what your doin, coj.
