Surround Sound
I would have put this in the HELP section but no one goes in there
But I have a question cuz I cant seem to figure this out
I have a westinghouse TV with HDMI audio capabilities
And a phillips surround sound system
I can watch movies with surround sound and the sound comes out of all of the speakers
But when I watch TV I can only get the sound to come out of 1 speaker
Anyone have any suggestions?

Re: Surround Sound
Did you get a book with your system that shows you how to hook it up?
Without knowing the specifics of your system (what reciever-Tuner you use to drive your sound), its sounds to me like you might have two issues which are pretty easy to fix.
a.
You have make sure that your TV is hooked into your tuner-receiver in the proper place (TV, AUX, VCR, DVD).
This will allow your TV sound to enter the tuner and push it out over the speakers much the same way it does with the CD player.
b. You need to also select your TV on your tuner remote.
On my tuner I can plug in several devices and all I have to do is press the associated button for the desired input(AUX/TV/VCR/CD etc) .
Again, you should have recieved a book/manual with the sytem/tuner to walk you through it.
Many many thanks to my talented friend Jos for the new Sig.

Re: Surround Sound
Yup I turned it to external speakers
And with my book and all the online help it says all I need to do is plug the red and white RCA cable from Audio out on my TV to Audio In on the DVD player
Then switch the setting on the DVD from from AUX or Movies to TV
And all I get is 1 speaker
IM getting frustrated

Re: Surround Sound
does your surround sound have different settings? like I know when I first got my system it primarily only came out of the center for TV, unless certain things were programmed for surround sound.
Try messing around with some of the controls on your remote, like on mine i have a button that says "Surround" where I can choose between Dolby and Stereo.
Then I also have a button that says "Sound" where I can choose between "Drama" "News" "Sports" "Action" etc.
Sometimes those settings matter...
Otherwise sometimes regardless when you use TV you might primarily just get it out of one speaker, then you'll get some added affects with your extra speakers, such as if someone opens a door in the distance it might squeak out of the right speaker, or a car starting might be in the back, stuff like that.
Some TV programs just plain don't have surround sound for run of the mill systems
