Unions are on the decline across the country, and usually for good reason they dont hold the same purpose they once did. I dont know a thing about this union or what is going on in this situation so I cant speak to it, I only the know the couple industries that I work (worked) in. And in those the union mentality was warped. I actually held a union job once (hey I was young and I needed the money) it was the most upside down mentality I ever saw.

I have watched closely as several unions that I have had the "pleasure" of working around have slit their own throats.

Again dont know specifically about this situation so I cant comment on this one. What union are they anyway UAW or is there a specific union for Airline Mechanics as well.

That reminds me of a good story, but I will save that for another time.

I think the mechanics at Northwest are in a craft union and not an industry union like UAW. The union is called the Aircraft Mechanics Fraternal Association.
