I was debating weather to sign up for sign up for military or not.. I desided im not gonna.. I would love to help the country but I don't wanna lose my life.. And I just hear bad things about it..

My friend signed up already.. Signed some contract thing so now he has to go into it
Don't let the stories discuorage you!!! Make no mistake, you will get yelled at by a TI, DI, depending on what branch of service that you choose. They are going to tear you down, then build you up the military way. (Famous line-"Boy, you betta git yoself down to K-Mart and get yoself some military bearing!!!") Like Shockzilla said, don't volunteer for ANYTHING!

I joined the Air Nat. Guard in May 1998, and went to Lackland AFB, TX for BMT. Then I did my technical training in h_ll, I mean Sheppard AFB, TX. I have not seen combat, or been to a forward location. I just got yelled at alot because my TI (training instructor) was younger than me. The first night I was there,(BMT) I made an incorrect facing movement, then I heard "HEY YOU! WHAT THE HxLL DO YOU THINK YOU'RE DOIN?" Then he found out that I was 4 years older than him. The poop hit the fan. "WE CAN SEND MONKEYS AND DOGS TO THE MOON, BUT YOU CAN'T DO A PROPER FACING MOVEMENT?! YOU MUST BE A FRIGGIN IDIOT!!" Yeah, I got yelled at alot after that, constantly being reminded that he was younger and smarter than me. He did make me an element leader, and 4 of the 5 Honor Graduates in our squadron came out of my element. The last night we were in BMT, he came in at 2330 hrs and made us clean the both squad bays in our Service Dress Uniforms! Then he kept us up until most of us left, which was about 0430 hrs. He screamed at me all the way out the door, telling me that he hated me, he wished I would die, and "GET THE F--K OUT OF MY FACE!!" Despite that experience, I would do it all over again!!

    WHAT TIME IS IT?

On some air bases the Air Force is on one side of the field and
    civilian
aircraft use the other side of the field, with the control tower in the
middle. One day the tower received a call from an aircraft asking,
    "What time
    is it?"

    The tower responded, "Who's calling?"

The aircraft replied, "What difference does it make?"

The tower replied, "It makes a lot of difference. If it's an American
Airlines Flight, it's 3 o'clock. If it's an Air Force fighter plane,
    it's
    1500 hours. If it's a Navy aircraft, it's 6 bells. If it's an Army
    aircraft,
the big hand is on the 12 and the little hand is on the 3. And, if it's
    a
Marine Corps aircraft, it's Thursday afternoon."

    Peace through superior firepower!

Since I am only 13, I don't have any good stories to tell. My dad has some hilarious ones though. When he gets home from work I will get him to come on here and type them in, I can't remember all of it.

Served 10 years in the USAF, stationed at Ft. Belvior VA, Grissom AFB, IN, Maxwell AFB, AL, Saudi Arabia (Desert Storm 7MOS.) and finally Wright Patterson AFB, OH. Had some funny stories, most from BMT, but what always stands out most to me is the first night in basic. You get there at 2 in the morning so your half a sleep, then you proceed to get yelled at for what seems like forever. I remember the "pickem up, put em down" luggage game, and everyone getting labeled by there hair styles down to there clothes. Some of my favorites "Nanny"(since he looked like one dressed him), "cheeseburger"(who in there right mind wears a Mcdonalds shirt to basic?), and "chief" (indian guy). I just happened to be the guy who walked right into the back of the TI when entering the barracks. Not good, and having 10 seconds to open that damn lock for your locker, that was enclosed in that impermiable plastic that seems 2 inches thick. We looked like rabid dogs chewing on a dead animal. Makes you into a better person in the long run though, wouldn't change a thing.
