i'm 38 and i first went there when i was 14 with my brother [24 yrs ago] we were so excited to see all the fireworks that we spent all of our money and on the way back to minneapolis we ran out of gas! a hiway patrol asked us where we came from and we said fishing. he said "oh yeah ? then why are there red bottle rocket sticks poking out of the bags in the backseat?" we were so scared but he called my mom and then poured 5 gal. gas into the car and said "get" no tickets or nothing, he knew we were scared poopless![ and he let us keep the fireworks]
Ugh...We still can't use them in Pa. I've had a few conversations w/the cops over them the past couple years on the 4th of July. It makes me mad we can't use them or buy them here...maybe that will change if people would stop being dumbasses with them.
I have fond memories of going to SoDak with my dad to buy fireworks!
You can now buy fireworks here in Minny, but they're the pussy fireworks. No "Projectile" Fireworks allowed. I guess Wisconsin is good for something!

we do a roaring trade in fireworks here! and bizarrely especially in my little town, of around 20,000 people, really could justifiably claim to be the firework capital of the world, that may seem ridiculous but its a fair claim really.
i dont know if you guy sknow of guy fawkes night, i wont explain it in detail but basically its a firework night in here england on november the 5th. my town has a bunch of history relating to the stuff its celebrating, in most of the country its a minor event really, for little kids mainly. but in my town its massive, as i say there's 20,000 that live here, the record estimated attendance for november the 5th is supposed to be something like 200,000 back in the eighties when it was broadcast live on television.
