You forgot the whole point of the thread, that gay people are deviant. They,(and apparently soy),are another cause. Oh wait, I forgot. People who write AND believe this sort of shit are the biggest problems. P.P.O., posts for political discussions since 2006!!!!!

doug, I'm not trying to be confrontational, but maybe you can tell me the explaination as to how homosexuality provides a selective advantage.
    It seems slightly counterintuitive.

Soy isn't good for you, truly. But seriously.........causes someone to become g*y?! Hahahahaha. That's a stretch.

Personally, I don't think there is intelligent life on other planets. Why should other planets be any different from this one?

    I actually love questions.
The most intelligent people are the ones who ask questions.

I questioned the exact same thing when I was in my anthropology class - also, I was very curious about menopause.
How is that homosexuality and menopause could exist in human behavior when neither seem to add to the ability to reproduce?
After all, menopause is the complete stoppage of the ability to reproduce!
(Technically, it SHOULD be called, "men-o-stop")
There are terrific answers to these quesions.

Unfortunately, in science, if you want to know everything about something, you have to know something about everything.

I find it's funny how many people around me have dead set opinions on topics without wanting to think/study/investigate on it - we need more calm, logical, unbiased thoughts/discussions on topics.
Almost EVERY single belief I had as a teenager I have changed my opinion on later because I realized they weren't right.

    Anyway, back to the question.
There is a difference between 'pure' homosexuality and having a homosexual experience.
Pure homosexuality meaning little to no desire for the opposite sex and engaging in sexual behavior with only the same sex (even this is rare) - homosexual experience being, an occurance usually found between the ages of 13-19 of a male's life.

Cajun is right in saying that "pure homosexuality" is 'deviated from the norm' - that is very true - it isn't what the typical human prototype is designed to come out as.
What do most people think of when they hear the words 'three stars' or homosexual?
Usually an effeminate male who has no desires for other women except to engage in the behaviors they also do.
This is a genetic anomaly - it actually occurs during pregnancy.
The fetus is either 'washed/bathed' in testosterone, meaning the womb will fill with testosterone, or be vacant of the hormone, during different portions of the gestation.
Now, during different parts of gestation are when different behaviors of the child are occuring, and whether the body is washed in testosterone or not will greatly affect the behavior of the child once it is born.
There is a section on how the child will behave, who the child will have sexual desires for, even physically what sexual organs the offspring will carry.
This has all been studied and documented.
I just want to make it clear these are not my 'ideas'.
They are very well experimented on lab rats in Britain, actually.
Of course, mice do not act the same as us, they were just very easy to document/experiment upon, since they have a much shorter gestation period.

Should a baby be washed in testosterone during the moments of sexual organ creation, it will grow a ***** and be male.
However, should it then be withheld testosterone during sexual choice and behavior, it will emerge a 'swishy' homosexual male.
This is because typically 'pure' homosexual males will have a mother whose body withheld testosterone during key moments of gestation.
However, there can be very masculine *** males who are large bodied, act manly, and are still 'mostly' interested in only the same sex.
Also, for females, people usually think of the 'butch' lesbian, as in, very manly in features and behaviors.
You can probably figure out yourself, this is because of the body's timing of testosterone washing.

There are no clear cut absolutes either.
I mean, there are transsexuals, transgenders, females/males who do not fit their sexual gender profile.
There can be abberations in how humans emerge.

Now, as far as homosexual experiences, these ARE NOT genetic abberations.
They are in fact, ADAPTATIONS of human behavior.
In other words, they helped humans to increase their likliness of having an offspring.

Once again - these are NOT my thoughts or guesses, but well documented, carefully constructed scientific concepts:
There are many studies upon homosexual experiences in chimpanzees. it occurs in their societies as well, in fact, for the same reasons.
It usually occurs amongst the lower status members of their society (in other words, the ones less capable of obtaining resources/sexual acess to females).
Now for chimpanzees, there is a very high segregation in sexual access to females by the lower members of society and the highest member (alpha male chimpanzee).
The lowest members many times will die a virgin and the highest member will sometimes copulate with every female member of the tribe.

The point is, many young chimpanzees will never have a chance to engage in copulation with a female.
So, should they ever get the chance, they would need to know what they are doing sexually.
Certainly if there is the slim possibility they will engage in sexual behavior, the female will not give him the time to 'figure it out'.
This has been documented as well, they don't, the female will get angered by the inexperience and not allow him to continue.
Well, with no female to 'practice' upon, the lower status chimpanzees will practice amongst one another.
    This is very well documented.

Now, we humans have a smaller gap between these status levels of our society's members.
Even very low status males (poor in resource aquisition or a poor ability to obtain access to females) will usually find a sexual partner of the opposite sex (if that's what they're looking for).
However, we still find in documented studies of human homosexual behavior there is a very high percentage of lower status males who will sexually experiment with one another.
Imagine the way society views this, we make these jokes all the time.
We have low status duos like 'Beavis and Butthead', and there are usually the joke that they are 'butt buddies' - a very popular term here for very close low status friends.
There are many scenes in television and movies that joke that low status guys who are in their teenage years and hard pressed to find females will engage in homosexual experiences.

Also, in humans, since there isn't such an enormous gap in sexual experience as there is in chimpanzees (and the apes for that matter) - many guys will have first sexual experiences with the opposite sex with a low status female.
Low status in women means drawing little desire from males in the surrounding society.
Think of the jokes and comments made on this topic.
Just recently on the show Family Guy, the 'ugly daughter' Meg swore she would be abstinent and never have sex.
Her father informs her she can't, since she's what guys call, "A practice girl".
I know pop culture is not science - never in a million years would I claim it's so.
However, it can be a good barometer for how society views topics.

This concept of homosexual 'practice' shouldn't seem bizarre.
Think of how little humans would know about sex if we were living without the technologies of television, or radio, or internet, or any printed medium.
Written language has only been around
(that we can find the earliest methods of) for 5,000 years.
Before that, everything a person knew had to be either taught or learned firsthand.
Questioning now why teenage boys are fascinated with pornography?
I mean, not to be graphic, but look at the majoritiy of video pornography, it's pretty much a "HOW TO" for sexual behavior with all the close ups and whatnot.

Anyway, I know this is long, boring, and has to focus on a stupid controversial topic.
    I HATE controversial topics.
I am fascinated by how everything works, and there are much better questions on human behaviors.
We are just absolutely focused upon homosexuality because it is SO **** OFTEN USED TO EMASCULATE in public as an attempt to lower a male's status.
Think of the insults we hurl at people, they usually involve questioning the man's ability to reproduce:
*Questioning the size/functioning of reproductive organ - 'Needle ****'
    *Sexual preference -'Yer ***!'
*Stating that someone may use their mother as sexual practice - 'Mofo'
    *Questioning of a person's overall manliness or 'machismo' - 'You're a p----'

Anyway, sorry to bother and stir a pot of controversy.
Hopefully the next time science comes up I'll just shut my face, or it'll be on a better topic such as 'why men are hardwired to typically prefer large breasts'.

    GO VIKINGS!!
(Hoping Chester Taylor can have a big game should he play after his week out)
