Thread: Skype---You gotta get it!!!

I just downloaded skype.
Its a PC to PC phone exchange.
You can also call ordinary phones too.
This thing kicks butt!
I bought a mic for $10 and I am loving it!

Also, now I can do voice over MSN instead of typing!

Get it!

I have it, it is a great Instant Message program also.

I really enjoy it also, especially the conferencing of multiple numbers.

BUT.........one must realize that it has some draw backs.

My plan was to use it in NZ, where 80-90% of the country is dial up, it wouldn't support the skype program, I would hear others, but they couldn't hear me.
Even at higher speeds, it also has a few issues with broken talk, or garbled.
I know a few people that have it said they were being solicited by other skype members, I haven't had that problem yet

Other than that it is cool.
I even posted a similar thread like this when I first got it also.

Actually, I don't have that but I want one.

I really don't have a need for the cam because others that I would call won't participate,...........in skype that is.

I have tried to get others to sign up, and they don't. Oh Well!!!!

All calls to US numbers made in the US are FREE until the end of the year.
That doesn't even get people to sign up, that I know anyway.

I have a web cam in a box somewhere, meant to find it and try it, but haven't had the time.

I had SKYpe for long time. I've been using it to call people in the States. Its a very good program that lets you talk for free.

I subscribe to Oracle Mag and they have an article in this months issue about Skype taking it to the next level. Netgear will introduce Skype WiFi Phone which lets Skype users make calls to other Skype users for free and to other phones (at a very minimal fee).
You need to be near a WiFi connection to use this ofcourse. With the advent of WiFi in many states one would fear for the cell phone companies.
Who says the advent of the internet is not the best thing since sliced bread?

Ya, I think that some of the land based companies are giving skype a hard time.
There are a few places(states) that don't have Skype In numbers.

Not surprised that cell phone companies are worried.
