    Re: SI Football Preview 2005

Hmmmmm.........44-6 Losers on national television at home. 3rd preseason game where you want to show you have some swagger and more than just a potentially good season. Marriucci looked like he forgot how to get a team ready to play aka dress rehearsal. The Packers Abysmal, scored 3 points at home in the same manner or situational setup...Maybe they should have consulted their brethren Peter King!!! Unbelievable B.S. they we are not considered to be in the playoffs as a Division Winner!!!!! As Viking fans we should line up and Blog the Snot out of them, as well as email the editor who let that crap be released! Can't wait for the apology edition with Zygi Wilf on the cover with a pitch fork and middle finger in the air saying the Devil made me do it, 12-4 and Division Champs now stick that in your trophy case!!!!!!!

In a world of what ifs Vikings fans have a point. In the real world we have to actually win something before you get the credit.

True, but the magazine is projecting season results. They're dealing exclusively in what-ifs. And, it's not like Detroit has done anything to deserve the credit they're getting.

No, I think this is probably a case of wanting to look smart by going against the grain. Everyone else is saying the Vikings will be first in the division, and will go deep into the playoffs, so they say we'll place 3rd and miss the playoffs. It doesn't really matter what they say, because no one comes back at the end of the year and says "your predictions were wrong, so I'm not buying this mag anymore." They're all distracted by the swimsuit issue that comes out around that time.

I am surprised by this considering Peter King seems to think we have a really good shot at winning the whole thing. But I have noticed SI not giving us props for years.

    Re: SI Football Preview 2005

The Vikings should win the division ON PAPER. But that's why they play the games. We were a much better team than the Falcons in '98 and lost. We were a better team than the Giants (NFC CG) and got BLOWN out in '00 or '01 it is too painful to remember. The Vikes have lost two big leads in the second half of the last two seasons and Tice is not a proven coach. There a few reasons why the media is not jumping on our bandwagon.
Our D looks better on paper but they have not been impressive in the preseason. So given that the Pack are the division champs, like boxing they are the champs until somebody beats them. The lions are looking better and like Del Rio stated people like to be trendy with their picks. Writers like to pick something a little different than their peers to stand out.
Anyway to me it doesn't matter what anyone writes about the VIKES, it isn't going to change one game and won't change who really wins the division for real. Let them print what they want, if the Vikes play like they are capable of, the writers will just look silly for picking them third. They will have the egg on their face. And also keep this in mind, no matter how bad a team is in the NFC north it is always a good game.

There s only two things stopping you - fear and common sense!! The Truth you CAN"T HANDLE THE TRUTH!!!!!!!!

I don't think it is some vast conspiracy against the Vikings. It may be a lack of effort to know exactly what is going on in every camp, but it isn't an all out travesty.

The Packers have owned the NFC North for a while, we have a nasty habit of starting off great and sucking azz at the end of the season our QB is known for not being able to win the close games or the comebacks.

I don't think the SI prediction is THAT CRAZY. Everyone is hyped up and are being very unrealistic. You have people who a week ago were chaulking the Viking loss to the Jets as just preseason garbage. Getting lit up by the chargers in the first quarter as preseason garbage. Yet strangely enough you have some of the very same people saying Detroit sucks because they had a bad showing against an improved NFC team........odd.

I'm sorry man adding a few new faces doesn't guarantee anything. It's up for grabs and if some sports writer wants to predict a prooven winner and a trendy pick to fill the pages then there is nothing stopping him/her.

    Re: SI Football Preview 2005

I better get my copy of that mag in the mail today!!

Anyways, I'm over the "not being predicted to win the North" or the superbowl thoughts. I could care less what they predict before the season starts. Let's just get this party started next Thursday when Randy goes off on the former champs!!

I get the most pissed off looks from people with my VKG 4 LFE Wisconsin license plate, and I LOVE IT!!
