Shockzilla "0-5" in the job hunt

    Hey Shock,

    Chin Up Man,

Better times are coming, have faith in the one above..

I truly believe we are put in hard times, but then rewarded for our hard work in the long run.

I myself was laid off just before Christmas last year, and I'm starting a new job Monday..

It's not funny but, I also filled out a On-Line Resume on a site put out by our State Labor Dept....I noticed the link when claiming my unemployment...

I did this Last Monday, Tuesday mourning at around 9am my phone rings, this Gentalman says he read my resume and wanted to meet me...
I was hired on the spot.....

Keep the faith, and I'll be praying for ya......

I LOVE THE SMELL OF VICTORY IN THE MORNING AIR.

    I feel your pain, shock...

I've got a little more idle time on my hands than I'd like right now, too.

It's tough, no joke about that. Here in the Reno area (right next door to Cali), the cost of living is so high that in order to make ends meet, you either need an extremely high-paying job, or two incomes. With those kinds of circumstances, it really narrows down the kinds of jobs that are even economically sound to search for.

    IOW - $7-$8/hr ain't gonna cut it!!!

    Keep on keepin' on, Bro...

I feel your pain shock. I get laid off every year from my teaching job, and it's never a guarantee that I'll get it back (luckily I have though). The school district I work in likes to hire relatively new teachers because they get paid lower due to the salary ladder. The last two summers I've put out over probably 20 resumes a summer, and haven't even got a call back! Granted the job market for P.E. teachers isn't that great (at least in the area we live in) but you would think at least one call back would have come! I guess, just keep your head up and something will come of all the work you are doing!!

I get the most pissed off looks from people with my VKG 4 LFE Wisconsin license plate, and I LOVE IT!!

    Hey Shock,

Keep the faith man. I'll be in your boat in about 2 monthes when my job goes to India. We were told 3 monthes ago they were going. I dont know if it helps, but things are just as tough down here in Tampa not to mention all over FL.. I just laugh cause i'm already seeing signs our customers are pissed off speaking w kids in India who dont have a clue how to speak english. I view it as a good thing cause I dont want to work for a company that is only after the "Almighty Dollar". I'm going to look into non-profits, give them a shot. People there get paid good money and from what i hear you actually get a sense of satisfaction coming home from work.

Long story short, Keep your head up and keep plugging away. It will come to you when you least expect it.
