Shockzilla "0-5" in the job hunt

OK, gimme a break. I've been out of work since January 7th, and I must have sent out 100 resumes since then. I've gotten EXACTLY 5 calls from those 100 resumes, and just now I went 0-5 on the job front. Here's the deal: I see an ad in the Star Tribune for a job, send a cover letter with resume YESTERDAY, get a reply back SAME DAY (yesterday) asking me to fill out an attached application form, so I send it in SAME DAY (yesterday), then I get an email TODAY saying:

"Thanks for your interest in this position, but we filled the job yesterday.

Sincerely", and she gives her name.

They filled the job YESTERDAY!!!!

So what the HELL does a guy have to do to get a job!?!?!?!?!? How F-in stupid are people?

Maybe they actually HIRED YOU...but the automated rejection letter that they send out to EVERYONE got to you BEFORE the hiring letter (that they actually have to compose manually) arrived! j/k

I agree...there are some pretty stupid companies out there...how they stay in business is beyond me!

Gracias - I was pretty down about things earlier today...

and I thought I was the only one unemployed around here. I have been looking for work since dec 23. I always love the christmas time layoff, it makes the holidays just that much more fun.

Shock are you in the IT field as well?

Actually, I'm looking to get into it, but I was in Warehouse/Distribution.

That is odd! WTF is wrong with companies out there!

Keep plugging away buddy! In the end, you'll be glad that these other half-ass companies rejected you!

I know just how you feel shock, my company moved to Singapore 10 months ago and after taking the summer off, I have been searching for employment ever since. 17 years at the place. 2000 jobs shipped overseas... :mad: I also have about a 5 percent return on my resume's it seems like. I have alot of prospects as of late and I know I will find something real soon! Of course, as soon as I do I will probably get a bunch of calls! Best of luck in your search. :smile:

i been looking for a steady job since oct of 2003. I did soem siding last winter for cash under the table and worked for awhiel with a temp company but nothign permant. Student loan checks only fgo so far
