Depends if you consider the Superbowl an NFL championship.

Joe Namath won the AFL championship, then went on to defeat the Baltimore colts in the Superbowl. If you consider that an NFL championship, then Joe is your man.

However, if you consider Joe Namath, you have to include Len Dawson

Dawson won the AFL Championship a few times as the QB of the Dallas Texans and KC Chiefs. Then, in Superbowl IV, he defeated the Vikings for a Superbowl Title. however, the Vikings were NFL champions that year, so once again, that can't really be the answer

I've got the real answer.

in 1957, Tobin Rote led the Detroit Lions to become NFL champions. He then went on to lead the San Diego Chargers as AFL champions in 1963 over the Boston Patriots.

Interestingly enough, he's also a member of the Green Bay Packers HOF, although he never won a title with them.

Yes, Blanda led a team to an NFL Championship, but he wasn't the ONLY player to lead a team to both. Rote was however the only QB to win both championships as a QB.

You are correct, Blanda was the first to play in both, Rote was the only one to win both

actually i think your right Rote got both Championships the lead....in the question is a bit leading and should be struck from the record

haha, no, I looked up all the teams that won the AFL championship. Then, while looking at the players profiles on nfl.com, a few of them played on teams that I recall winning NFL championships near that time. Narrowing down the list, to take out Blanda, Dawson and Namath, there was only 3 other guys. I did know the Lions won a few NFL championships in the 50's, and when I saw Rote played in 57, light went off.
