Shaq/Marion Trade (Heat/Suns)

Could really care less about the trade itself but what seems funny is the end of the ATL/MIA game that was supposed to be made up. Mistakes are made in all sports
but the NBA has a mess onn its hands, with this one IMHO.-

The Atlanta Hawks and Miami Heat must replay the final 51.9 seconds of their Dec. 19 game in Atlanta on March 8, but now O'Neal won't be with Miami for the game.

O'Neal was traded to the Phoenix Suns on Wednesday. The deal sent four-time All-Star Shawn Marion and Marcus Banks to Miami, and thus the new question: Will the two new Miami players be eligible for the replay of the end of the Dec. 19 game?

I didn't even know about this final 51.9 second replay... that seems dumb. I'm not a fan of the NBA.

As for the trade... once again, I could care less.

they should get the vikings to replay that 98 championship game, i'm pretty sure it was against the rules to have the most idiotic man alive coaching a team.

Unfortunately, though WRONG, it's not against the rules.

Purple shaded vision says it was illegal though....

That's a real messy situation in David Stern's hands...I'd like to see how he resolves this one.

Still pissed at him for not coming down hard on Isiah and the Knicks.

There are so many issues in the NBA... I truly think that Stern isn't getting it done and the league overall is suffering because of it. You look around the game and shake your head, it is a total cluster-fudge from top to bottom.

And people point and laugh at MLB and its steroid issues.. the NBA is well beyond that point. I truly don't bother watching the game anymore... Basketball is a great sport, the NBA is not doing it justice in the least.

The 51 seconds is a sham, let it go and if need be, call it a tie and go from there. Like the Heat are going anywhere this year.

As far as the trade, silly move on the Suns part.. 40 million dollar gamble to try an win a ring this year. Fiscially irresponsible, even if Marion pouted every single day in Arizona.

Of course all of this is just my opinion.

Why is there a replay?

Seems like a great trade for Miami...at least on the surface.
Shaq's glory days are well behind him, and Marion is still up and coming.


Now if this trade had happened three years ago, you'd be looking at two MVP candidites on the same team in Nash and Shaq that would compliment each other very well.

I think the suns made a great trade. Shaq when playing is still the most dominant player in the NBA. He shuts down the lane on defense and commands a double team on offense. Granted he probably wont get the minutes or games he used to, but when you have one possession and need to score, it is gonna be a huge advantage to have shaq. Amare Staudamire although a great player, is not big enough or physical enough to be a playoff center in the Western conference.

Bottom Line: Without shaq the Suns had no shot at winning it all, the playoffs are about defense not run&gun offense. With Shaq they have a slim chance that shaq will be healthy enough to contribute. If shaq is healthy in the playoffs I think they will meet the Celtics in the Finals. Of course the Celtics will win.
