Well, I'm off to work to find out if she's under water or not.

    Packed my waders.

Re: Severe Flooding Kills 6 In SE Minnesota - My home town

That is a shame. Those pictures bring back memories of the early 90's when I was living by the river in St Peter during the big flood. Rising water can do alot of damage in a short time.

Do what you can to help those you can.

The Winona area is where I grew up & where I work everyday. The worst flooding so far is in Stockton & Minnesota City only 1 mile from where I work. I also have relatives & friends in these communities.

The rain has been coming down steady since 8AM yesterday morning & first let up around 9 this morning. I was in Winona this morning & heard a rumor that Stocton is gone, devastated by the flood, but I'm looking for more confirmation of that/

I know the National Guard is already there & there are Blackhawk helicopters buzzing around.

I believe all my relatives should be safe as they live on higher ground.

No, but just up the road a bit, people where pumping basements & cleaning up their businesses. There were several pics flying around work. The devastation was incredible.

15 ft wide, 3ft deep creeks were turned in 200 foot wide raging rivers after 17 inches of rain fell in less than 24 hours.

Trains are stuck in towns on both sides of the river due to tracks & trestles being completely wiped out, both to the north & the south in MN & at least the south in WI.

5 co-workers lost their houses when raging waters swept them off their foundations.

Several more had damage to some extent. Campgrounds along with campers were completely wiped out. Their are a few foundations left without houses on them & no trace of the house can be found.

Downtown Rusford was still under water. The waters in Stockton recedded but left a big pile of mud & debris everywhere.

The Arches, a huge community park for picnicing, playgrounds & ball diamonds is just devasted.

My friends house miraculously was spared after being completely surrounded by water with him & his family trapped inside.

    Luckily, there were few deaths.

    There are several pics of damage from the area on the link below, but they barely begin to tell the story of what it was like as it was happening;

Glad you're OK Singer. Nature's fury can be terrible sometimes. I'll be saying a prayer for everyone involved in the flooding.

There are several videos of the aftermath here.

    http://wcco.com/local/local_story_231202229.html

Click on the videos above the main one to see more. One is from a BlackHawk helicopter. My work is next to the airport & the Blackhawks have been buzzing in & out allday. Probably to refuel.

The fifth video about the Midwestern motel is only a little over a mile from my work.
