Some of that would almost be funny if it wasn't true.
I lost a friend about a year ago due to the overzealous nature of law enforcement since 2001

Please refrain from expressing your views of law enforcement, even if justified, in a light hearted thread like this.

Re: SCHOOL -- 1958 vs. 2008
In 1958, Little Johnny, Billy and Pedro and every American was under the scope of a paranoid government afraid of Communism and spent much of their day practicing to thwart nuclear fallout by hiding under desks (kindling).
All the lunacy today is unavoidable with a ruling class trying to control everyone else and even in 1958 was developing into an inevitable phenomenon.
I wish people would get over romantic nostalgia for a decade that most people who lived through it say SUCKED.

Some of it was kind of funny, but people who get into the "back in my day" stuff are kind of silly.
Sorry I'll take tomorrow and the day after that and the day after that, than thinking back to older days.
As much as I would have loved to live in the second red scare and fought in Korea I'll give the 50s a big pass other than the 57 Chevy Bel Air.

1958: Billy practices duck & cover drills
2008: Billy's parents must go to the coroners office & identify their son who was a victim, along with 15 other students, in a shooting spree by a disgruntled student.

Re: SCHOOL -- 1958 vs. 2008
The 'back in the day' threads are funny.
Everyone knows there are good and bad things about every generation.
As a parent I know that it is a challenge to teach kids about earning things in the era where everyone gets a trophy for participating no matter how much they suck. There are also some hard-working kids that are an asset to society, but, I would have to go with there being more pussies in today's society in the great USA then there was in the past.
Get your facts first, and then you can distort them as much as you please. Mark Twain
