    Schilling's Bloody Sock A Fake?

Did pitcher Curt Schilling paint his bloody sock red? That's what Baltimore Orioles broadcaster Gary Thorne claims he heard.

Thorne, who does play-by-play for Orioles' games on the Mid-Atlantic Sports Network, brought up the 2004 saga of Schilling's famous bloody sock during Wednesday night's game between the Orioles and Boston Red Sox.

While the Orioles were batting in the fifth inning, Thorne claimed that he had been told by Red Sox catcher Doug Mirabelli that Schilling had red paint and not blood on his sock during Game Six of the 2004 American League Championship Series against the New York Yankees.

No he didnt, the senile announcer known as Thorne is off his rocker.Everybody and thier brother in the RedSox orginization has denied this, including Mirabelli.

It was a fake, the imprint on the sock was always the same.

Exactly if this was indeed blood and Thorne is lying Schilling should be clamoring for MLB to test it.

To me it looks too red to be blood as anyone knows once blood soaks into fabric it becomes less red and more orange looking if that makes sense.

First of all, it doesn't matter if it WAS painted on. The guy was obviously hurt the entire series and he ended up needing offseason surgery. So it doesn't take away from his performance in the game.

Second, I think that the O's broadcaster is bogus. I live in Orioles country, and I can tell you this: the Orioles organization is trying their damndest to make a rivalry out of the Sox and the O's. I don't know if it is because the O's have sucked for so long or because the Sox are so popular, but there is definately a push to convince people that the Sox and Orioles hate each other. I think this was just an attempt at rousing the Orioles fan base.
