Roy Scheider, of "Jaws" fame, dies at 75
By JILL ZEMAN, Associated Press Writer 1 minute ago
LITTLE ROCK, Ark. - Roy Scheider, the actor best known for his role as a police chief in the blockbuster movie "Jaws," has died. He was 75.
Scheider died Sunday at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences hospital in Little Rock, hospital spokesman David Robinson said. The hospital did not release his cause of death.
However, hospital spokeswoman Leslie Taylor said Scheider had been treated for multiple myeloma at the hospital's Myeloma Institute for Research and Therapy for the past two years.

Roy was a character actor in many films and in several TV series. He had a long Hollywood career. Best known for Jaws and his work with Spielberg, he once said he was most fond of Seaquest DSV, a television series that only lasted 2 seasons.
Cheers!

He was nominated for his role in "The French Connection", and he was also in "The Seven-Ups", which has one of the greatest chase scenes ever.Any man who afflicts the human race with ideas must be prepared to see them misunderstood. - H.L. Mencken

I actually liked him in the 2001 Space Odyssey more than I did Jaws.

Seaquest went 2+ seasons...
I think it was cancelled in the 3rd season but in reality they did so much "tweaking" to the show that they changed the name from SeaQuest DSV to SeaQuest 2032.
I loved that show but it was absolutely out of control as far as producers went.
He left the show after the 2nd season only to do guest appearances in the 3rd due to contractual obligations.
I thought that show had a ton of potential and really enjoyed it...
