    Rating 5th grade basketball players

In an article in the Indianapolis Star newspaper they had an article about hoopscoop.com where they had ranked prep basketball players all the way down to the best 5th graders in the country. And one kid even had his AAU team have a shoe deal with ADIDAS in a way to "find the next Jordan".

How sad is this and the state of professional baskettball.

That's crazy! I just want to know what kind of parent would let their 5th grader sign a shoe contract.

    5th Grade huh........
I work in the Publishing World.
And this kind of contract is not that uncommon.

I mean kids of all ages sign up contracts for everything you can imagine. Music, Dance, Acting, Sports, Computer Sciences, Modeling and on and on.

Thing is, many kids today are so far ahead of the older generation then when we were that age.

We press kids to succeed and many do.
This is really just the fruits of their hard work and talent.

But on the otherhand, they are very young and will need extra guidance to keep perspective on being a kid.

And that is where some of these parents will fail.

Just my thoughts, add $5.50 and will get you a cup of coffee at Starbucks.

So colleg coaches should spend time getting to know a 4'8" PG that may bring him a Championship. LOL

These kids are not even fully grown or developed yet and who is to say that there skills do not regress as they get older.

This is dumb. Kids will be kids, which makes them unpredictable, especially in the teenage years. Some will find they don't want to play basketball any longer, and maybe a great player will just start playing in the later years of highschool (which has happened). Forcing this type of thing onto kids is dumb.

Terrible. I think the NBA should have criteria like the NFL has for players to be eligible.

Yes, an age requirement needs to be implemented A.S.A.P. From what I've heard of late, they're getting closer to doing this. It would be a lot smoother if idiots like Jermaine O'Neal weren't going around saying that a move like that would be racist by the NBA officials.

Yeah, I want to know how an age limit is racist. Maybe discriminatory becuase supposedly you're not aloud to give age requirements for jobs, but racist? White kids don't turn 18 too? I don't get it.
