    R U a Fairweather Fan?

I have always been curious as to what a fairweather fan really is?

I personally do not consider myself a fairweather fan.
I cheer for all Minnesota teams but mainly care about those on the Pro level.
Vikes, Wolves, Twins, Wild (even followed the Lynx their inaugural season).

Heres my question, what do you consider a fairweather fan?

Does the fact the I turn the TV off when the Vikes are losing by 20 points in the 4th quarter,
    make me a fairweather fan?

As I see it I have always been very emotionally attached to my teams.
I hate to see my team lose and it only enrages me more to watch them slowly lose and try to distract myself by going to something else.
I am mad for a couple days after a close Viking loss.

Does the fact that my attention span to teams wanes as their record changes make me fairweather?
I used to watch every single aired Wolves game in the day of Garnett, Marbury, and Gugliotta and after.
But with them falling apart the last couple years I have little interest.

I justify this because I am a competitive person.
I can not get interested in a team if they are not even close to competing.
I always follow a team somewhat.
Even though Hockey is on of my least entertaining sports I still check up on them, see how their playoff drive is going, and watch their important games.
I will be there to watch them in the playoffs.

    Minnesota teams are my team.
I do not cheer for other teams although I prefer some to others, specifically against division rivals.
I will take my future kid to games even if the teams are not successful because even with the above said I value other things in sports besides winning too.

My plans for post-college is to Move to Colorado, a place with similar climate but more temperately hospitable.
I am excited to cheer on Denver's and Colorado's teams.
It will be weird having a team represent a local city and not my state.

    I can't imagine how I will feel going to a Broncos/Vikes games, or a Nuggest T-wolves game.

In my opinion, I don't think you can be a fairweather fan if one of your favorite memories of childhood is catching a Twins game on the radio during a long car ride. (I just found out Twins will no long be on WCCO in 07)

What is your take on being a fairweather fan?

All the kids my age pee their pants, it's the coolest.

I have a great take on this, but I posted it about a year ago and can't remember what I said.

Basically if you call yourself a fan you are one IMO.
If you promise to be smarter, I will promise to be nicer.

My posts are worth 6 of yours.

I can't believe this topic is coming up again.

I am a false fan this offseason.

I'm an all weather fan. Like the all weather tires on my jiip. Wait, that might not be the best analogy.......

Personally, I don't think there is intelligent life on other planets. Why should other planets be any different from this one?

It all depends on how many people don't like the vikings around me. If I am doing something with people who really don't care about them either way, I don't bother with much. But if I find out your a packer fan, I'm rocking purple in your face all day long. The fairweather fans left with moss and pep, you won't find many here.
Wait, if there's cat food in this bag............................

Fair weather fans tend to make rationalizations to prove they are a 'true' fan ! LOL!

Ha, yeah figured I would come across as being questioning it or insecure.
I have never had strong claims made of me being one, I just wanted to explore the topic and was curious as to what people think of it.
I did a search and didn't see anything except an argument between ultravike and some guy in 03 that made me more curious.

My wife is a fair weather fan then cause she leaves the room when I start throwing things.

I guess if I shut off the game I wouldn't have to keep buying universal remotes

Many many thanks to my talented friend Jos for the new Sig.http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v343/josdin00/Vikings/Marrdro_sig.jpg
