    Purplepat's Wagers for Week 7

    For entertainment purposes only.

Last week's "success" has got me acting like a bold idiot, so here we go:

8 TEAM MONEY LINE PARLAY - All teams picked simply have to win.

In each parlay, I'm locked in on these five teams winning:

    MIN over TEN (@ MIN)
    PHI over CLE (@ CLE)
    STL over MIA (@ MIA)
    SEA over ARZ (@ ARZ)
    DEN over CIN (@ CIN)

Added to those five games, I'm adding all 8 combinations from these three games:

    DET @ NYG
    ATL @ KC
    NO @ OAK

Placing a $10 wager on each parlay, here are the payouts (profit plus bet cost) if the top five teams hit, according to what combo of the second three games win:

    KC, NYG, OAK - $151.65
    KC, NYG, NO - $231.34
    ATL, NYG, OAK - $263.30
    KC, DET, OAK - $379.93
    ATL, NYG, NO - $401.66
    KC, DET, NO - $579.57
    ATL, DET, OAK - $659.63
    ATL, DET, NO - $1006.25

Total wagered = $80. Let's hope the quality teams win like they should, and the Lions somehow upset the Giants in the Meadowlands!

so are you saying if TEN, CLE, MIA, ARZ, and/ or CIN upsets- you are out $80?

Good luck to you! You might be looking at a 1000 (unit) payday!

That's right....if any of those dogs pulls an upset, I'm out $80! And it can always happen...the Cardinals have played tough this season, and the Seahawks (at least in 2003) aren't a strong road team. The Browns have looked great at home this season, upsetting the Ravens on opening day. And certainly the Titans put a hurting on the Packers at Lambeau, and St. Louis is not the most consistent team in the world (especially when it comes to turnovers). Nevertheless, I think all my "favorites" are clearly superior to the teams they are playing. Heck, if the Browns upset the Eagles, that might be worth $80 to me in terms of improving the Vikings home field advantage chances.

I originally was going to put the SD-CAR game in there instead of the DET-NYG game, because I think SD stands a good chance of beating CAR. But I really liked the payoff numbers with DET in the mix, so maybe they will rebound from the thrashing by the Packers like they did after the Eagles whupped 'em, when they went to ATL and beat the Falcons. As long as my "favorites" come in, the wager is no worse than betting $80 straight up on some team to cover their spread.

If, by some chance, I'm in line for a big payoff and all that stands in my way is the Monday night game, I might throw a little money line hedge bet in there on the Bengals just to cover my original $80 wager. But living here in Cincinnati, I can't see the Bengals beating the Broncos, even with the thrill of hosting a Monday Night Football game for the first time in forever. The Bengals simply cannot stop the run, so I expect Reuben Droughns will run roughshod over the Paper Tigers.

OK, I'm a complete loser this week. The Rams and Seahawks both lost, ruining a potential $580 payout (assuming the Broncos win Monday night) because my long shot Detroit handily defeated the Giants at the Meadowlands. The Saints also won, but when you count on the elite teams beating the scrubs, they've got to do their job.

It didn't help that after the Rams screwed me I started rooting for the Browns and they actually forced the game into OT, but couldn't close the deal against the Eagles as David Akers narrowly made a 50 yarder to win the game.

    purplepat-
next week, Why don't you just give me $80 and I will kick you in the nuts?

Yeah I loss pretty bad myself, Who would have figured on the dolphins and cardinals?
I can break even if the Broncos cover 5.5.

Yeah, I just lost another $50 betting on the Broncos to cover, and for Droughns to rush for over 120 yds. Droughns only screwed me by 11 yards.
