Pre-Game Rituals or Lucky Charms
We all know that a lot of athletes have some pre-game rituals or superstitions that they partake in before a game. Whether it be eating the same meal on game day, keeping a snicker bar in their shoe, wearing the same t-shirt or possessing some sort of lucky charm.
I didn’t really do anything special until the 2004 season when I came across this small 2 inch high pewter Viking figurine. He was so cool looking that we immediately knew that we had to purchase this little guy.
He had white rabbit hair around the horns of his helmet and little leather boots and we kept him on the TV stand to preside over every Viking game. ..until last year when we came home from work and found that our 1 year old lab had chewed him to pieces.
We were devastated.
Later in the season, we found a big fat head Adrian Peterson bobble head doll when we went up to Minneapolis and he replaced our little Viking guy on the TV stand. My husband would ask him if “he was ready for some football†before every game and of course, his head would bob up and down as though he was replying “yesâ€Â.
We like him, and he’ll stay… but a few weeks ago I found “herâ€Â.
She was the most beautiful Viking Goddess I had ever seen.
Lucky for me, I was the winning bidder on EBay that day.
Anyways, I would like you to meet my new lucky charm.

Beer always helps me. I don't really have a good luck charm.

Re: Pre-Game Rituals or Lucky Charms
You should see all of the crap I have in this room. My uncle really is a nutball about christmas, so he bought me two trees and they are full of purple lights and vikings stuff like those mini helmets and purple balls. They are pretty cool actually. Also, there is a xmas stocking and a 20 inch nutcracker. Then I have a huge vikings flag on the wall and a pennant as well as a mini dino kids toy. All of this stuff is now in the room for the rest of the season.
On game days, I bring down my vikings lamp that is in my room. I turn it on right at kick off. I usually put my jersey on right after breakfast before the game (when it is on sunday) and primetime games I will probably wear my AP all day and put my kevin williams on for the game. We have plastic vikings cups during game day. I change my wallpapers on both computers to whatever one looks good. Change the msn display picture too.
I think that is everything, but there is probably more stuff that i just do and dont even know that it is superstitious. We're bringing purple back.

Re: Pre-Game Rituals or Lucky Charms
I just got a pair of purple boxer-briefs.
I am going to try something different.
I'll wear them, and unlike previous attempts, I will wash them after each game. (just to shake things up this year!)Its better to lose the first game than the last one.
