It works ok on my pearl. Just have to have all images off.

We described how we use our phones and the tech rep recommended the crackberry.

She wasn't sure the Iphone would stand up to the environments I/we put my phone through.

It's a Blackberry. Both my son and daughter have Pearls. I like my Blackberry Storm just fine, comparable to iPhone, but uses the Verizon network instead of stinky AT&T.

btw, I understand iPhones will be opened up to other providers, besides AT&T, later this year. I may buy one when that happens.

My service provider is Verizon. Are you saying the things the tech rep was showing us wasn't a Iphone?
