Thread: Pair accused of stealing, eating pet dog

HONOLULU - Two former golf club employees are charged with theft and cruelty to animals in the death of a pet dog the owners say was cooked and eaten. An Oahu grand jury indicted Saturnino Palting, 58, and Nelson Domingo, 43, both of Kalihi.

They were accused of stealing a dog owned by Frank Manuma who lost his 8-month-old German shepherd-Labrador mix named Caddy.

Manuma had taken Caddy to the Moanalua Golf Club with him on Dec. 16 and left the dog tied up at an equipment shack when he disappeared. Manuma said police told him the two men slaughtered and ate the pet belonging to him and his wife, Debbie Weil-Manuma.

The charges are both felonies punishable by up to five years in prison and a $10,000 fine.

Wow, why would anyone do that? How did they get caught? Will they get as much jail time as Vick? Should they? Crazy.

Dog was... and still is... considered a prime food source in may cultures around the world. Ancient Hawaiians on the Island of Hawaii requested dogs be brought to them regularly for Luau feasts....by visiting European Ships and other Whaling Ships that would visit the Island. The Royal family ate Dog Meat regularly.

Dog is readily available in Thailand, the Phillipines, and throughout Indonesia. It's all realivent as to what you grow up eating. Could be a thriving business selling our unwanted of millions Dogs and Cats that are Euthanized annually to other countries for food. Since we are going to kill them anyway...Why Not?

What?!?!?!

Yes they ate the dog, but I eat deers and cows and pigs.
The case should have been stolen property and destruction of property.

They should have just headed a little west and lived in a country where dog is a delicacy.

Well, if they did that to my dog, 10 years isn't enough and I would tell them watch their back the rest of thier lives.
Cause one day when they aren't expecting it I would get some real payback.
I can understand soemone talking in general about animals in the spca that are going to be destroyed anyway.
But you are talking about a family pet in this instance, they are usually like a part of the family.
And you better not let my wife hear about this or those guys are dead men walking.
