    Evidently there is a company that will insure contests like this. If I remember correctly, the whole thing just cost him his $10,000 premium, not the $300,000 in refunds. Plus, this story has been all over the Tribune, givnig him all kinds of free advertising. There is no way that he got burned by this.

    Yeah there are companies out there who sell insurance for this type of thing.
    The store owner didn't sound to worried about the fact he was giving away a ton of furnature so, I'm guessing he covered himself.
    I've heard of Pepsi, McDonalds and other major coorporations doing this all the time..especially on their million dollar givaways.
    Plus as mentioned earlier, this guy just got nationwide publicity for as cheap as the cost of the insurance policy.
    Can't beat that.
