The Twins got spanked in the previous two games.

I think he is referring to there record in general. The Yankees have the highest paid team and are still below 500. Every player on that team is an overpaid, underperforming
diva. Dollar for Dollar the worst team in the history of sports.

You realize that's completely ludicrous to write that, right?
    (More on that below).

    As for "Overpaid, underperforming diva":
Here are ARod's numbers for this season:
            G
    AB  R
    H  2B  3B  HR RBI TB
BB SO SB CS  OBP SLG AVG
    2007 82 306 74 96 20  0
    28  80
    200 45 68  9
    2  .411 .654 .314

Those are MVP numbers.  Even at his salary, in NY, that's not overpaid.

Here are Jeter's numbers for this season:
            G
    AB  R
    H    2B  3B HR RBI TB
BB SO SB CS OBP  SLG
    AVG
    2007 81 331 54 113 23  3
    5
    43
    157 33 43  7  7
    .411 .474  .341

Not MVP numbers, but, certainly, those are All-Star numbers.  Also, not overpaid.

I'm no Yankees apologist, but I have to roll my eyes with all the power I can muster when people spout off about things like "Dollar for Dollar the worst team in the history of sports".  Have you examined EVERY team in the history of sports?  Do you really have any facts or evidence to back that up?  Or do you just prefer to spout off with pithy phrases and bluster?

Revel in their lack of success this season (I know I am).  But keep some basis in reality when you do so.

    =Z=

Thanks to Josdin for the awesome sig!

For Christs sake Zeus, lay off the guy...
He's bantering about baseball, hating on the Yankees...its not rocket science and doesn't need to be treated so.
Why even waste your time breaking down stats of TWO of the players on the team (the two most productive this season too I might add)

Dollar for Dollar, he has a point...a good point.
Which team has had a higher salary than the Yanks and performed worse...(This is a team sport too, breaking down 2 players is BS)
The TEAMS Ws and Ls are all that matters.

The worst team in the history of sports was a very bold statement and probably inaccurate, but it doesn't need to be taken completely literal either.

    See above.
Those two were not highlighted (probably bad quoting on my part) as a rebuttal to the "Dollar for Dollar" comment, but, rather, as a rebuttal to the "overpaid, underperforming" comment.

The worst team in the history of sports was a very bold statement and probably inaccurate, but it doesn't need to be taken completely literal either.
    Yes it does.
Otherwise I could write something like:
"The 2006 Indianapolis Colts were the greatest team in the history of sports on the Planet Earth, when based upon money spent per season-ticket-holder in contrast with the salary cap and 2004 Presidential Election popular vote totals."

The onus of responsibility is on the poster making the statement.
If you're going to post something ludicrous with no backing in fact, then I'm going to jump on it.

    Check out my title.
It's part of my responsibility to PPO.

I wasn't trying to say you didn't have a point, and I see where you are coming from, but you don't jump all over the people making ludicrous comments about the Packers. (not saying you should be)
People post garbage all the time about the packers with no backing of any statement whatsoever.
And that is acceptable? but if it is regarding the Yankees its not?

A-rod gets paid a ridiculous sum of money. The rangers thought he was over paid that is why they traded him. Is he a great baseball player, yes. Would the twins be better off trading the salaries of Hunter Mourneu and Mauer for his, absolutely not. He is the highest paid player in all of proffessional sports of course he is overpaid.
facts or evidence I have not. But at over 200 milllion for this years squad being below 500 seems like they are not really gettting the most bang for there buck. If they win 70 games this year that is like 3 million per win. The twins spend 70 million and will probably win 90 games less than 1 million per win. Find me a baseball team that has ever spent more than 3 million per win and I will concede to you. I will not waste my time trying to prove what I already know, the yankees have overspent and underachieved so far this year.
    A-rod Sucks
    Jeter Swallows.

If I had read those garbage posts about the Packers, I would, likely, have jumped on them.
My response depends on the time I have to formulate an answer, combined with my personal feelings on the matter.

The key phrase (and I'm about to get on him again in a moment for his follow-up) is was "...in the history of sports..." as well as "underperforming and overpaid".
Blanket generalizations make my skin crawl.

That it was the Yankees had nothing to do with it from my perspective.
I'm glad they're sucking, I have a personal issue with Steibrenner and his megalomaniacal ego.

It's an opinion Zeus. I did not make up facts, I just stated an opinion. Get over yourself.
