Noreaster Storm (Blizzard Conditions) to hit CT..

Forcast is in a Warning Phase now..

We are going to get hit by a Noreaster tonight, here in CT, they are predicting one foot plus......Of snow..

A noreaster, as we call them, is a storm that comes up the coast line then circulates counter clockwise, forcing it back inland from the ocean.

These are some of the worst storms that we have to deal with in New England.......Usually very fast storms, lasting less than 12 hours, but them dump a hell of alot of snow in the winter, and rain in the warmer months of the year....Good thing I got some movies....I'll probably loss my Direct Tv Signal during the heavy snow..

We have next to nothing on the ground here.

    Less than 1/2 inch.

Re: Noreaster Storm (Blizzard Conditions) to hit CT..

I have about an inch on the ground right now, but the worse will miss my area. These reports can be so dumb but here is my area report...

A STORM SYSTEM DEVELOPING OVER THE SOUTHEASTERN STATES THIS MORNING...
WILL TRACK NORTHEAST AND INTENSIFY...PASSING OFF THE MID ATLANTIC
COAST TONIGHT. THIS WILL SPREAD A SWATH OF SNOW ACROSS THE REGION
LATER THIS AFTERNOON...INTO TONIGHT. THE SNOW SHOULD BEGIN ACROSS
THE WARNING AREA DURING THE MID TO LATE AFTERNOON HOURS...AND PERSIST
INTO SUNDAY MORNING BEFORE TAPERING TO SCATTERED SNOW SHOWERS.

TOTAL SNOWFALL ACCUMULATIONS OF AROUND 6 INCHES ARE EXPECTED
ACROSS THE WARNING AREA...WITH SLIGHTLY HIGHER AMOUNTS POSSIBLE
FURTHER SOUTH...CLOSE TO THE MARYLAND BORDER.

A HEAVY SNOW WARNING MEANS A SIGNIFICANT AMOUNT OF SNOW IS
FORECAST THAT WILL MAKE TRAVEL DANGEROUS. IF YOU MUST TRAVEL...
KEEP AN EXTRA FLASHLIGHT...FOOD...AND A CELLULAR PHONE IN YOUR
VEHICLE IN CASE YOU BECOME STRANDED.

Nothing in Northeastern PA. It is just now starting to snow extremely lightly. I'm hopin for 6+ inches, but the "experts" say 1-2". So much for living in the mountains!

This is the part that concerns me. I live about 10 miles north of the MD border and south of the PA turnpike. But 6 inches isn't much, unless it changes it's track.

Im in Union County NJ, one of the counties with a predicted foot plus of snow, but honestly, it's not that bad out, its coming down in decent volume, but it's really fine powder, so it wont be bad to shovel, and the driving conditions won't be too terrible either.

I just had to walk home in it.

Re: Noreaster Storm (Blizzard Conditions) to hit CT..

NBC ran a disclaimer across my HD screen saying that my HD service may be interupted because of a blizzard in the NE. We have only about 1 inch of snow here on the ground in St. Paul.
