    NFL Refs and MLB Umpires

What percentage of the calls do they get right, and has there ever been one that has been repremanded or fired for bad calls?

not sure, but I bet if we watch NFLN tomorrow, when they have Mike Perrerra analyze the calls, he'll pull some bs out of his ass about how that tripping was the correct call, because his refs can do no wrong.
I probably hate that guy more than the refs that make the bad calls.

I don't care as much so long as the "mistakes" are equally distributed.

Obviously this thread is in reference to today's game. And the calls were incredibly one-sided, maybe the worst I've ever seen.

Ron Winters crew today was just trying to one up Major League Baseballs playoff umpires.
As impossible a feat that is, I think Winters succeeded.

    I don't know about percentages.
It seems to me that there are a lot of missed calls in NFL games compared to MLB games (maybe not if you start talking balls and strikes), but it's a tougher job.
Just my opinion, but I think NFL refs generally do a pretty good job under the circumstances.

I do know that the NFL does grade/reprimand officials for bad calls.
There are consequences in terms of playoff opportunities for the refs.
I googled it and came up with this six-year old article, which suggests that the NFL does fire refs if they're terrible (or old and fat?).

The refs today missed some, and it did seem a little one-sided.
But they got theirs on that kick return.
When the age of the Vikings came to a close, they must have sensed it. Probably, they gathered together one evening, slapped each other on the back and said, "Hey, good job." - Jack Handey [Deep Thoughts]

The Steelers always seem to have the calls go their way.
I still remember them basically winning the Super Bowl aginst Seattle due to unbelievably poor play calling.
They only took one touch down away from us today, during that game they took 2 from Seattle.

don't forget the gift against the Cards too.

Harrison was down before the goalline, I don't care what anybody says.

and not challenging the fumble at the end of the game is inexcusable.
I don't care whether it was a fumble or not, but you HAVE to challenge it.

I don't know ... that Seahawks vs. Steelers Super Bowl was pretty bad also.

Something about the Steelers I guess.

The refs will make mistakes so they have allowed coaches to challenge a call up to 2 times per game...to get it right. What gets me is when they review the play and can see that the call is wrong and uphold it anyway. Anyone who watched the Florida Gators game against Mississippi State Saturday night will know what I mean.
