NBA Player comes "out of the closet"

John Amaechi is ***, and now the first NBA player to come out publicly is ready to talk about it.

Amaechi, a center who spent five seasons with four teams, is scheduled to appear on ESPN's Outside the Lines on Sunday, and his autobiography "Man in the Middle," will be released Feb. 14.

He played for the Utah Jazz. Can you imagine what Karl Malone would have done to him if he knew?

Huh, yeah it is an interesting time for him to come out of the closet, right before his book comes out....

Hey everyone, how about you show a little class.
It doesn't bother me one way or another that he is gay.
I played sports in high school and it would of been real difficult to lead that kind of life in that fish bowl.
Imagine howe tough it would be in the overexposed lives of NBa players.
I'm guessing that it would be tough.

There are no rules about being *** in the NBA.
I do also agree that his timing was possibly a media play for more publicity for his book.
Now that he has come out how many other professional athletes will come out of the closet?
As long as they are good athletes, sexual orientation shouldn't matter.

If he is writing the book anyway, he has to publicize it.

If the book is about him being gay, how else do you come out publicly.

I guess if you really want to know, you have to read the book.

Yeah...to us fans maybe...but maybe not to his teammates who might feel funny being stared at!
