I think the appeal of NASCAR isn't the sport itself, it's that many of the fans can relate to the drivers. I once heard it billed as the "working man's sport". Every NASCAR fan I know says that they like it mostly b/c they can relate to the drivers (ex.-how Dale Earndhart started his life in poverty and got out of it by racing).
 I don't know about all that... I picked my driver on his looks alone...

I believe that TNT asked if anybody else liked it. I don't think she wanted everybody's opinion that is sucks. Don't ruin the flow and topic of her thread!

    I'll add my 2-cents.

Back around 1994 I watched the Daytona 500 one weekend. It was very exciting. Marlin won, and I kinda went with him for awhile. Then came Jeff Gordon. I watched his first or second win (I think it was Rockingham) and I was hooked on NASCAR. This is before it really exploded.

Then I was stationed in Tennessee. NASCAR is the national pastime down there. After everybody started jumping on the Gordon wagon (I guess I did too) and it just wasn't any fun anymore.

I do not watch it, but I don't think it sucks.

For those of you who say, "all they do is drive in circles", well there is a road course too. But, there is a heck of a lot more to racing than that! Watch it sometime and you will see!
