Music Industry to Abandon Mass Suits
Music Industry to Abandon Mass Suits
The Wall Street Journal TECH
By SARAH MCBRIDE and ETHAN SMITH
After years of suing thousands of people for allegedly stealing music via the Internet, the recording industry is set to drop its legal assault as it searches for more effective ways to combat online music piracy.Instead, the Recording Industry Association of America said it plans to try an approach that relies on the cooperation of Internet-service providers. The trade group said it has hashed out preliminary agreements with major ISPs under which it will send an email to the provider when it finds a provider's customers making music available online for others to take.Any man who afflicts the human race with ideas must be prepared to see them misunderstood. - H.L. This only seems like a victory on the surface.
But what the RIAA wants to do now is go through your ISP and get them to not provide you with internet.
Since the RIAA is not successful at suing people for downloading they want to block your internet. Is this the RIAA's way of circumventing the legal system? Will all major ISPs agree to this? Will people have any recourse once the RIAA gets your ISP to block you? Only time will tell."There is good and there is evil. And evil must be punished. Even in the face of Armageddon I will not compromise."

With the way technology is increasing and bands can pretty much distribute themselves through iTunes and other music download programs... the Record Labels, or "Music Industry" won't be around too much longer.
Not to mention there are just too many file sharing programs (and always will be) for them to do anything about.
All those years of record labels f*cking over musicians is coming to a close... karma's a bitch.Disclaimer: I'm an idiot.

You like a song/artist..
then show them some love and support and BUY THE FREAKIN' thing.
At least it puts 2 cents in the artists pocket.

Record labels garner the vast majority of the money their record sales create.
Takin' from the artists.
I'm all for the way of the record labels going the same route as the do-do.Vegans are eating the rainforests. =(
