Thread: Most Under-rated Rock and Roll Guitarists any era ?

Who do you guys think deserved more credit/did the most for the bands they were in and received the least due?

Angus Young - He just rocked. He was told by a critic once that "All AC/DC ever did was write the same album 6 times" His response was, "That's bullshit, we wrote the same album 9 times" Badass...

Like what I am seeing here...You guys have GREAT taste and I agree so far...all under-rated guitarists.

The guy had such a unique sound.

I have to say Prince!

You had to expect it from me.


Is he underated?

.......... Yes, mostly because he gets pigeon-holed as a Crazy for his clothing and such.
I think he is respected amongst his peers, but not so amongst the common fan of music.
It also hurts him that he is not mainstream anymore.
Also it hurts him that he is R&B/Pop/Rock.

You don't get on this stage unless you are respected I guess, it is an awesome display.

Another is Phill Keagy...anyone know him?
He's from the christian rock world...supposedly Jimi Hendrix called him the best.

Robby Krieger from The Doors.

Neil Young definitely...maybe because his singing is just that slightest bit offkey, but what gives him such charm. A great long history from Buffalo Springfield, CSNY and solo.

Steve Howe - this is a reach, because he may not be underrated, just not that well known. Peter Green and Larry Carlton for the same reason...very good guitarists who are very well known among guitar players and enthusiasts.

And as great (and popular) as the Beatles were, George never got his due as a great guitarist.
