Just saw this on PTI. He was a hell of a player. Thoughts and prayers with his family.

The very first Twins games I attended was a double header at the Met, back when Killebrew. Oliva & Carew were the Twins stars. I actually got to watch him play in person. That was 40+ years ago. Hard to believe.
Hitting 500 home runs meant something then. Nothing like the steroid infested stats of today.

I remember watching him in the 60's. He was a helluva power hitter. I saw him once at Yankee Stadium...but I vividly recall the All-Star game when he was playing 1st base, and he stretched to take a throw from one of the fielders, and did a split. Man, that hurt just to watch it. Some stats you never forget, and 573 was one of them. R.I.P. Killer.

I had forgotten about "The Stretch". The hammmy ended his season that year.

Nice touch from the ground staff to put a pic of #3 under plate home at Target Field.

Not a huge Twins fan personally, but he was definitely a legend, no doubt. Sad to hear.
I was forutnate enough to see him last year, at a Twins game where they introduced the 25 greatest Twins. Killer threw the opening pitch.
