I hope he doesn't come close.
I usually want our Twins to do good at everything.

All this does for him is improve his worth if he competes with the power hitters.

That is not good for the Twins Org.
He is still worth a lot even if he doesn't do well.
He is a Catcher that can hit with the best in the league.

Seriously, I will be rooting for him, but it hurts to know the detriment it will cause if he actually did win this event, add some more money to that contract.

I don't think any manager puts much stock in the Home Run Derby, it has very little to do with actual baseball.
    Go Mauer!!!!

I can't believe I'm rooting for a Boston player, but go Bay!

He was the best pick left in the pool at work.

He'll do well. I bet Mourneau gave him some tips. It's not all about power, it's all about timing and consistency.

Mauer isn't going anywhere if he wins the hr derby title, batting title, mvp, whatever. The organization would be absolutely nuts to let this guy go. He could be a .200 hitter the rest of his career (which would never happen) and we should still keep him.

Show off that Mauer Power on Monday!

I get the most pissed off looks from people with my VKG 4 LFE Wisconsin license plate, and I LOVE IT!!

Kinda like they would have to be nuts to let Tori Hunter or Johan Santana go? I'm sure they want to keep him but it's gonna cost a lot of money to keep him. Being a hometown kid, hopefully he would give the twins a discount, but he'd still be the richest twins player ever, by far.

It would be cool though if he won. I will be cheering for him to win for sure.
