I have never met a petty officer yet that wasn't defined by his coffee consumption, lol. Just ask any of their subordinates, lol

They have a hooked index finger to hold that government issue ceramic mug.

LOL, second good chuckle. This day is starting to look a bit better as it is coming to a close.

By the way, it took almost 3 years to get rid of the hooked finger and the cup I carried for most of my career still has some of he brown java stains still in it that make it almost unusable. :S
