Madden 12 Cover Vote

If everyone could vote against Aaron Rodgers and Drew Brees I'd really appreciate it. If either one of them are on the cover of Madden 12 I'll seriously not buy it.

Make sure to vote against AP too. The curse is real and I don't want him getting hurt. Vote for Rivers this week!

Let's just forget about the curse for a moment.

I think the cover of Madden should always represent a player who made a big impact or had a very successful previous season. Although, I would not mind if the cover featured a player who deserved to be on the cover for many years, but only had a decent previous season.

Some character should also come into play. A fan favorite is a selling point as opposed to for example having a drug user like Johny Jolly on the cover. Even if he e.g. broke the single season sack record in the previous season it would still look very bad on Madden's behalf and certainly piss the parents off.

Don't get me wrong, performance on the field is still hands down the most important factor!

Also, I think that a player who has never been on the cover before should have an edge over players who has previously been on the cover.

This is how I (roughly) priorities the selection of a Madden cover:
Based on the players' previous season - 70 %
Based on the player's whole career - 20 %
Based on the player's character and conduct - 10 % (not including extreme cases like drug users or sex-offenders which should instantly cross them off the list)

Back to the alternatives in the poll...

The top 5 players who are the most deserving of the Cover, in my opinion:

1. Aaron Rodgers - 101 QB rating; 28 TDs, 11 INTs. Big plus for Super Bowl MVP.
2. Jamaal Charles - 1 467 rushing yards; 6,4 average.
3. Phillip Rivers - 102 QB rating; 30 TDs, 12 INTs, 4 710 yards (led the NFL).
4. Patrick Willis - 128 tackles, 6 sacks.
5. Micheal Vick - 100 QB rating; 21 TDs, 6 INTs. 676 rushing yards; 9 TDs.

And now... some of the alternatives in the Madden '12 Cover vote who made little sense (not saying they are bad players, but they didn't exactly dominate): Danny Woodhead, Tim Teebow, Hines Ward, Mark Sanchez, the 12th man (WTF???)
