man people don't waste time putting stuff on youtube.
Btw, it absolutely disgusts me that Larry the Cable Guy got a Roast... he was kind of funny the first time I saw him, after that, not so much
They have been roasting people since 1950, and they only do one per year.
It is actually an honor to be roasted, and their motto is "We only roast the ones we love."
Usually one of their best friends serves as the Roastmaster for the event.
Between 1998 and 2002, the roasts were aired on Comedy Central.
After 2002, they were no longer aired on Comedy Central, so Comedy Central created their own show, Comedy Central Roasts.
This is not the same thing, they are capitolizing on the success of the Friar's club, and they do several per year.
The last person to be roasted by the Friar's club was Matt Lauer from the Today Show, and it was awesome with Al Roker serving as the Roastmaster.
The Comedy Central roasts are not nearly as good or as interesting as the Friar's Club roasts.
The Friar's Roast is intriguing because they always take really well respected and successful people and blast the hell out of them. That's what makes it funny.
It's a whole lot funnier seeing someone like Richard Pryor getting roasted than it is Larry the Cable Guy.
