    Re: Kingdom Come.

WilliamsonOfTroy, Beach Chair is probably my favorite song on the Kingdom Come album.

What did you think of it?

My co-worker was talking about rap/hip hop last night while we were playing basketball. I asked him what he thought about this album and Jay Z.

He said "Someone has to make watered down hip hop for you white people to buy"

    LMAO!!!!

He listens to some crazy stuff though that no one has heard of. So I have no idea if he was serious or not.

I just got a good laugh out of it.
There's always someone who wants to think that they have the real ish...and that everyone else is listening to crap...but it's not hard to get all the underground stuff that is floating around.
Some of it is good...but alot of it is crap too!

Let him believe what he wants...nobody else cares anyway...everyone likes what they like anyway!

DCPologirl is way into the underground stuff here in DC...and a dude that I work with is actually in a hip hop group here so I just go to him for all my underground info (he's also a member here on PP.O but doesn't post).

Hey Cajun I just noticed your flag in your profile.
    Are you from France?
I though all the "cajuns" were just acadians who ended up getting deported from Canada :P.
If anything there should be a Canadian flag there, hehe.
The Acadians were originally French colonists...I have actually set foot on the land in France where they originally came from...as well as having been to Nova Scotia (originally Acadie) twice before.
As far as I know, the Canadian flag was established by the English (who deported the Acadians because they wouldn't swear allegiance to the English king).

So, there is NO WAY that I am gonna put the Canadian flag in my avatar...SORRY!

I would love to have an Acadian flag there instead...but it doesn't exist in the choices here.
I will have to lobby Webby for that one!
Well the english didn't establish the canadian flag...

"A serious debate about a flag change did not occur until 1964, when a committee was picked by Prime Minister Lester B. Pearson. Out of three choices, the maple leaf design by George F.G. Stanley was chosen as the winner. The current flag was adopted in 1964. The flag made its first appearance on February 15, 1965, which is now celebrated yearly as Flag Day."

T Dogg, what's your favorite Tupac album? ( excluding greatest hits)
That's a great question, and one that I've put a lot of thought into throughout the years and the answer I've come up with is.........I can't choose haha.
I narrowed it down to two however.
It's gotta be All Eyes On Me or Makaveli: The Don Kiluminati 7 Day Theory.
Me Against the World is also amazing.
    How about yourself?
It's a toss up between 2Pacalypse Now and Me Against the World.

But Tupac has so many quality albums, that you can't go wrong.
I agree, all his material is classic, it's just a shame that it ended sooner than it should've.
I love 2pacalypse Now as well.
Especially Brenda, I Don't Give a..., and If My Homie Calls.
I don't have anything against All Eyez on Me, it's a good album, but I think it's a bit overrated.

In my opinion, Tupac's best albums came before he got involved with Death Row. (2pacalypse Now, Me Against the World)

    Would you agree?
Actually I have to disagree. while I don't feel it was because of death row, I do feel he made his best records during this time. I just felt he got better as he evolved and I think his best work probably would've been still to come.
    [/quote]

    Yeah, I think you're right.

He probably would have gotten better as time went along, one of his best songs "Changes" is a perfect example of that.

But I still believe that 2Pacalypse Now and Me Against the World were better than All Eyez on Me and The 7 Day Theory.

T Dogg, who else do you like?

There is good rapo and there is bad rap, Jay Z is solid not my favorite but I will pick up his album because I like his style. Unfortunatly it the bad rap that makes guys like Jay Z look bad. It bugs the hel out of me when i hear people like K-Fed and rap used in the same sentence. K-Fed is rap like I am a super Model for Tommy Hilfiger
Exactly, he's not a terrible rapper, although I can't stand him, but he's certainly not a living legend.
Yours is an opinion I can grasp.
He's only made 2 albums I actually enjoy (and even they have some filler), being Reasonable Doubt and The Blueprint.
That being said, he's been around 10 years, with 2 bomb albums. I don't see how he got off calling out Nas when Illmatic is better than anything Jay Z has ever made.
    That's true.

Illmatic is better than anything Jay-Z has ever made, but it's only one album.

Nas was starting to fall off after he dropped his second album "It Was Written", so Jay-Z dissed him on the "Takeover" hoping that it would resurrect Nas' career. And it did. Nas came back with Ether and it instantly became one of the greatest diss songs in Hip-Hop history. Then, Nas dropped another classic album by the name of "Stillmatic".

Jay-Z lyrics on the song "Blueprint 2" ( his response to Nas' Ether diss)

"Y'all fell into the booby trap
I set the trap just to see dude react,"

"The street dreamin, all y'all niggas living through me
I gave you life when niggas was forgetting you emcee"

It's not like Jay-Z's discography has been a hallmark of consistency, IMO he has only put out 2 good albums as well.
    I agree.

He's only put out 2 classic albums, Reasonable Doubt and The Blueprint.

Besides that, he hasn't been that consistent.

But it's not all about the albums you've released in your career.

Jay-Z has influenced a lot of rappers in the last 10 years, not to mention he lit a spark underneath Nas' career. ( who is a legend)

Oh, and I did mention he literally built his label from the ground up?

"Who else you know been hot this long
Started from nothing but he got this strong
Built the ROC from a pebble, peddled rock before I met you
Peddled bikes, got my nephews peddle bikes because they special"- Jay-Z

Currently right now in the game I like Tech N9ne, Lil' Wayne, Kanye West, and T.I. just to name a few.
I can't stand Jeezy, Joc, the dipset, and all that other watered down club crap.
All time I love old school Eminem, Nas, Ice Cube, the Wu, Biggie, JAY-Z, and the original Snoop Doggy Dogg.
I maninly stay old school because so little of new hip hop is even worth listening to.
I also like a lot of Mos Def, Talib Kweli, and Common.
haha as I keep typing I remember more and more metionable rappers.
Well, I let it end there for now but I'll definitely like a lot more.

    and Like Water for Chocolate.
