Just wondering, has anyone here ever gone on a GEO Cache,

    Geo Chache Hunt?

My metal detecting partner has been doing it now since last Nov. and I went to visit him today. He showed me how the GPS unit works and then we actually went out to hunt a Cache he hid last week...It was cold, but the walk and hunt kept me somewhat warm.

I found his Cache hidden in a stone wall. I took a trinket for me, and put in a trinket for the next finder..

I had fun doing it and will be doing it again for sure, great way to get out and go hiking and good excersise....

I was planning on getting into it this summer out here in Eagan. From what I understand they have a pretty good program running for it.

My wife got me a really nice GPS for Christmas. I have a membership to geocaching.com. I even paid extra for an upgraded membership to Google Earth so I can sync it with my GPS. So far the only thing that I haven't had is a a nice day with no plans. I have every intent of doing it though...

Re: Just wondering, has anyone here ever gone on a GEO Cache,

You guys are going to enjoy it.

My friend says, some people hide them and camo them so good, it can take hours to find them. And you can be only a foot away...But it gets in your blood that you won't be out foxed..

If you do a search on the Geo site....I'm using the same screen name there....VikingNed from the State of Connecticut..

I posted my first find yesterday....

Ryan, check this site out also.

It's another world site......you can also track here....Great zoom....

I'm not trying to burst your bubble, but my buddie showed me, you can get all the tracking stuff for free on Google Earth.....It's misleading and most people think it's a pay feature.....I'll find out exactly how to get it, next time I talk to him...

I knew that I could get what I wanted from Google Earth for free, but the upgrade lets me sync the GPS and PC. Makes things a little easier, and not just for geocaching. The upgrade was only $20 for a year membership, so it was worth it. I am downloading that other program now, but probably wont be able to use it for a few days. Gotta go to work shortly, then early to bed tonight b/c I have to attend an overnite conferance tomorrow... Ill let you know when I check it out...

Re: Just wondering, has anyone here ever gone on a GEO Cache

I remember this thread from awhile back. I have a 7 year old son that I think he would really enjoy the treasure hunting. I dont know anybody that does this and I dont want to spend alot for a gps but I dont want a piece of junk either. I just wondering if anybody has any advice?
