"Just Shut Up" Award -presented by BonoSugaRay
First off,
Good day all!!!! What's crack-a-lack-in'?
(Go Badgers' hockey team!!!)
(Let's get a move on, Bucks...clinch a freakin' playoff spot!)
(Has hell frozen over? The Milw. Brewers are 5-0 to start the MLB season)
Any-who...
I'm sure many of you have seen the early morning weekday show on ESPN 2 "Mike and Mike In the Morning"? I'm sure many of you are aware of their weekly "just shut up" awards, where they give awards to people in the media, who have stated something that they shouldn't have/or continuously rambling about nothing/same old, tired, boring stuff, etc, etc.
...
Well, I thought, hey, why not put together a PPO "Just Shut up" Award for this past week?!
Now, before any kind of voting gets under way, we should ALL come up with a list some pros/news, etc, who/what we think has gotten on our freakin' nerves this past week, and then, take the top five (most popular ), and vote.
Here's mine: Reporters/beloved Packer fans who continue to shoot darts at Favre, hoping he makes his decision on retirement soon.BonoSugaRay IS Betamethasone Dunkin

My best suggestion is Favre.

It's Favre. Who should get the "Shut the hell up" award.
For about 5 years he's been saying he might retire.
He's the one casing all this mess by not making a decision & hurting what's left of the team.
When do you think is the appropriate time for him to make his decision?
August?
The Pack already passed on signing a QB in FA.
Who backs up Rogers if Favre retires?

To be honest with you, Singersp,
I don't feel like Favre NEEDS to MAKE any kind of decision RIGHT NOW. I mean, really, why are folks (esp. many of my Packer faithful) so darn concerned over whether or not he returns, this soon? It's no law that states he has to make up his mind months and months in advance. How many other professional athletes could retire come their sports' next season, and fans/media are RUSHING them to TELL them (as though it's their freakin' business) when they're going to do so? Just last NBA season, Indiana Pacers' guard Reggie Miller -during the middle of the season (right before all-star break, if I'm correct), stated that he was going to retire at the end of that season. This was a blow to Pacers' fans, but big freakin' woop-de-doo deal! How many baseball players, and other pros. have announced RIGHT BEFORE the start of their sports' regular season, that they were going to retire? There HAVE been some. And nothing's wrong with it. Moreover, going back to NBA, the Orlando Magic's guard Grant Hill has been plagued with injuries that have pretty much put a hault to his -what would've been- very hall-o-fameish career...the guy, if lucky, avgs. about 20 games a 82-game season, since Tracy McGrady and he signed to the Magic YEARS ago. No one is calling him to the "gas chamber"...forcing him to tell whether or not this season will be his last...esp. with all the money he's eating up in Orlando, and barely plays.
MOREOVER,
It's not Favre, IMO, who is causing all this drama. He's not the one telling the media to come visit him at his home, or on the golf course, or while he's doing some charity work with Steve McNair, to question his future. Favre only speaks when spoken to. It's the media and fans who are shooting bullets in a corps, not Favre. And sadly, they are starting to make Favre look like the bad guy, b/c he won't make up his mind as fast as they would like him to. I feel sorry for the guy. He has done nothing wrong.BonoSugaRay IS Betamethasone Dunkin

Favre... anyone who calls a press conference
then is late for his conference by like an hour
then asks why everyone is there
Brett shut up until you hang it up or decide to play, if you have anything
else on your mind keep it to yourself

Favre has 7:30 a.m. news conference
Green Bay Packers quarterback Brett Favre will meet the press at a previously scheduled 7:30 news conference tomorrow morning at his charity golf tournament in Tunica, Miss.
He may announce he'll play in 2006. He may announce his retirement. Or he may say he's still thinking about it.
Yesterday, he told the Green Bay Press-Gazette that he was very close to making a decision about his future.
Stay tuned.
